Thanks for all the replies.
I sold the car in the end 😞.
Sold the car to a friend who is a mechanic, he stripped back a load of plastic covering the wiring loom and found a break in two wires (purple and cream wires).
After fixing the wire break the car fired up into life!
So the...
I have a dilemma,
One day my 172 would not start, and since has been parked up on my drive for the past 2 years.
Now I have posted this thread in the main discussion section as I am not looking for a solution to the cars starting issue, I am looking for your opinions on what you would do...
Quick update:
I just put my CAN OBDII reader into the 172's diagnostics port but it shows "No Codes Found"
I have also just realised that when I lock the car up and look in through the window I can see the red immobilizer light flashing away.
Very confused.
Hello people,
My Clio 172 will not start.
The last time I had driven the car was last summer and it was perfect. I have been ill since then and so have not driven the car and unfortunately looking to sell her on.
I tried to start the car last week and she would not start. The engine does not...
I recently done mine, my car vibrates too, dash sounds like it's about to expload.
It doesn't bother me, although I can see how it could bother some people.
The vibrations are the only negative, the car feels so much better when doing gear changes and I love that all the engine/gearbox...
Lol, calm down now, it's only a forum and what I said was just my opinion.
Me personally, I agree the design is crap but when I have my family in the car with me, in the event of a front end smash I would rather have the fuel rail guard present rather than missing.
I'll take my chances with...
I nearly snapped the threads when removing my fuel rail guard, nuts had seized themselves on.
I put some grease over the threads, now the nuts come off easy, less stress on the threads when undoing the nuts.
OP - I would definitely get a fuel rail guard fitted, in the event of a front end...
Ok here goes.
Recently had my 172 Ph2 non-cup checked over by Mark Fish Motorsport. The car had a few minor issues that I can sort out but on inspection it was found that my driver-side driveshaft CV boot is split and leaking grease everywhere.
I have a MOT coming up and the split CV boot will...
Quick update, fitted the purple powerflex dogbone mounts today. Huge difference, no more banging/knocking on acceleration, no more engine shaking/movement, gear shifts feel precise and much more enjoyable drive overall! Very happy.
You'll be ok. Have a good read of the service history, it tells a story about the car, and gives you an insight to what you are buying and how previous owners have cared for it.
Test drive it also!
I purchased my 172 recently and was in the same boat as you.
Although the belts on the 172 I bought were done only 10k miles ago, the dephaser was never changed and is currently making a racket so it might be wise to enquire if the dephaser has been changed along with the belts (dephaser and...
Thanks for all the help guys. I was very close to getting a set of Yokohama s-drives, however I purchased the following as they fit my budget (not much).
Sound advice. The car currently has Pirelli P Zeros on and although they are worn they feel good so might look into getting another set, it just all boils down to budget unfortunately. :(
I can't say this hasn't run across my mind! You know it's just bound to happen.
None of my local dealers sell Toyo but do sell the other top brands.
To be honest for a decent brand tyre at my local dealers I'm looking at a minimum of £75 per tyre fitted.
I also asked my local how much they would charge to fit tyres that I had purchased elsewhere........ £15 per tyre!!!
Nah it wasn't me mate. My cars been sitting on the drive as it needs tyres (waiting for payday).
No doubt you will definitely see me about in the near future.
