So they should have definately picked up on the binding caliper then? Nice one, I'm definately going to put in a complaint. Wonder if e-mail, telephone, or in person is the best way forward?
No to be honest. I've not done many miles recently (only 200 or so since the service) and not been out...
...only a month after a service at a Renault main dealer
Had it in at Harretts in Wakefield last month for several issues looking into along with a minor service being carried out. A new front arm, gearbox mount, rear wheel bearing, and £600 later I drive away in my fully serviced and...
My 172 is currently at Harretts having a couple of problems looked into and a service carried out. I've just got off the phone now and have been advised that the following need replacing:
Nearside Bottom Arm - £174
Offside Rear Wheel Bearing - £119
Are these reasonable prices or am I being...
I was under the impression that the servicing schedule for the ph1 172 was 12k/1year however looking in the sticky it seems to state 12k/2years. Is this correct?
The reason I ask is that it's coming up to a year since the last service so need to know whether to get it booked in or not.
Cheers
The clip was already broken on one side from a previous owner, so I wasn't too surprised when it came off.
Ta for the advice on oil changes, I'll bear it in mind.
Well, it weighs practically nothing to be honest, and it just looks daft without it in my opinion, so I definately want to replace it.
Hehe thanks for the offer, but I don't want it that badly that I'll drive a 150 mile round trip for it :D
The silver engine oil cover panel came off yesterday whilst I was driving, and decided it wanted to melt itself on the engine :-/
Will Renault likely be able to supply me with one? If not, anyone know where I can get one from, and what the likely cost is going to be?
Cheers
As title really, I'm after recommendations of good breakers and spares shops around the country, specifically ones that are likely to have a ph1 172 gearbox in stock.
Thanks
I need to find out what my gearbox part number is. I'm told I can look at a sticker on the gearbox itself but I can't seem to find it :o
Can anyone advise me where I should be looking to obtain this number?
Cheers :)
Not a chance of doing anything like that myself unfortunately :(
So, a new gearbox is on the cards is it?
Dare I ask... how much would I be looking at if that's the case?
Hi all
Had a ride out in the 172 earlier today, and on the way back I noticed that everytime I went to change down to 2nd, it made a crunching noise as if I hadn't fully pressed the clutch. The only way I could stop the crunching from occuring was to slow to a crawl before selecting 2nd. Once...
I'll be in the market for a set of springs soon, I'm liking the sound of that. Tell me, would you be able to carry out a full suspension check and geometry check as well as the fitting?
I'm in Wakefield.
If I don't get any recommendations of decent specialists in the Yorkshire area then I suppose i'll just take it to one of the local garages and see what they say.
Go on, away with you! ;)
Recently I've noticed the 172 pulls to the left with the steering wheel centred. Also, on roundabouts if I really chuck the car round it understeers like mad and I have to back off to bring it back into line.
I had the tracking done only a 1000 miles back, so does anyone have ideas what could...
From what I can gather from Edde's post, the -3, +2 result means that athough the wheels are almost in allignment, rather than being like |---| they are more like /---/ when viewed from above. Surely that isn't how it's supposed to be, and they should both to close to 0?
Ok, so going on from that, does the reading look good/what you'd expect a 172 to be like? I've not had chance to test whether it's still understeering or not yet as I'm on nights :(
Cheers for the reply by the way :)
Hi all
Took the 172 to have a 4 wheel alignment check and tracking sorted earlier following uneven tyre wear and a bit too much understeer into sharp corners. I got a print out with the results on, however it means pretty much nothing to me! Therefore I was hoping someone could explain what...
