I've also bent the front subframe with a small-ish impact with a bank but it also destroyed the wishbone hangers. Did you reinforce those too? And recently done the same to the rear beam, not quite as bad as yours, looking to reinforce it but not sure where to add fillets. I also want to go with...
Thanks Fred, I have been looking for some details of the cup racer beam for some time and haven't been able to find anything. If anyone has some pics of a racer beam or a reinforced beam could you PM me please.
I am have bent the rear beam/trailing arm again on my 172. This time I have decided to reinforce the arms so this deosn't happen as regulary. Has anyone done this and suggest where the strengthening is required. I would assume extra fillets on the sub axle mount plates would be a must.
I'm looking at shortening the final drive ratio to give me a top end of around 170-180km/h. Has anyone found a supplier for different size pinions and crown wheels that'll suit a 172 Phase II.
I have just fitted an AItech C-16 pedal box to my 2001 172 with 7/10 front and 3/4 rear master cylinders. I increased the pedal ratio upto 6.5:1 but I am having issues with front brake effectiveness. The pedal is averagely hard and has a travel that I'd expect but the braking just isn't good at...
Is the acc belt still in place? I have heard that if it jumps off this can make the cam belt skip. Could help diagnose a problem if the cam belt is still intact.
Good luck, just one more piece of advice that has always helped me is to label, bag and photograph everything that you take off the...
Thanks this was taken at a WRX owners club skid pan day. I came second for the day, but tbh most of the rex guys did twice the distance I did, there was a lot of fun being had.
did you cut the door shell to fit these? I looked at fitting a flat panel but the center of the door had metal beams that aren't flush with the outer edges. Did you make them yourself or are they an off the shelf item?
I recently removed my fuel pump and it appears that the fuel pressure regulator is integrated into the fuel pump. There also doesn't appear to be any sensor associated with the FPR. Not sure you are logging a fault unless there is a sensor at the fuel rail end in which case it may not be the FPR...
Does anyone know if there is a replacement fuel pump that will fit into the standard pump and regulator canister. I am having fuel pump issues and don't want to replace the whole canister if possible.
I just had my car dyno'd after having a unichip fitted and the guys doing the tune told me that I may have an issue with the fuel pump as they couldn't improve the air/fuel ratio. Looking at the way the fuel supply lines are set up I'm not sure if it is possible to improve the AFR by increasing...
I fitted a Gripper to my gravel rally 172 a few months ago, it has transformed the car totally for the better. I must admit it is a bit snatchy when driven at road pace and you have to constantly correct turning arcs depending on load. It doesn't make that much noise only really when the car...
I was actually really surprised at how quiet it was. I have heard about them clunking and rattling but didn't get any of that. It may change as the plates bed in though.
I think it was 780 but can't remember if the was with or without VAT.
Fitted the drive shaft last night and I would say for my car the ideal amount to shorten the shaft would be 12-13mm. Mine is ok but any shorter and I would have been concerned.
Any idea of how to crimp up the CV booy clips without the use of the Renault tool? Or is it just a case of throwing the OEM ones out and using something else?
I just go my shaft back from being shortened but haven't fitted it in the car yet. Endd up with a measurement of 16mm but I suppose it depends on what camber you want to run. My shaft was already bottoming out in the standard diff so I added a couple of mm's to account for the additional camber...
The fill plug is at the front of the gearbox near the lower gearbox mount plate. It's a plastic butterfly screw plug, it also doubles as the level so that when fluid comes out of the hole whilst filling it is at the correct level.
I use Redline super light weight gear oil.
I am thinking about removing the harmonic resonator weight from the left hand drive shaft. One reason is weight and the other is ease of maintenence ofthe outer CV. Has anyone else done this and encoutered any problems?
