The 172 is becoming a nitemare to drive as it tracks all over the road, actually it already is a nitemare! Had it tracked, had the lower arm on the passenger side replaced as it was knackered is there anything else that i should look at?
Thanks
This time i went the official route and had a Renault supplied one. Spent a fortune on the 2nd one only to find out it had been poorly fitted with 3 of the locating dowels missing. You live and learn, wont go there again :dead:
Cost £1006 fitted with a years guarentee on parts and labour so...
Happened today on the way home from work, everything was fine and then the speedo stopped working and could hear a whining noise, are the 2 problems related?
Thanks
Spent a few hours with GDI today[a right laugh as usual]
Old Discs were shall we say, a little worn!
As you can see the back was even worse
Obviously the pads were screwed although plenty of meat left
New discs so no more "s**t will it slow down for the roundabout!"
Brembo HC goodness...
After reading a lot of threads where people have nitemares with garages, i thought i would give my opinion on GDI.
The 172 lives again thanks to the guys and girl [hi Bex] at GDI. Having owned loads of different cars over the years [some more trouble than others] and dealt with many garages, i...
Managed to destroy the gearbox on the 172 so it is in with GDI for a rebuild.
Once i get it back are there any limitations as to use [as with a engine rebuild]?
Only started tonight, seems to be coming from the nsf wheel area. Checked for play in the drive shaft but its ok, to dark to take the wheels off :dapprove:
Any suggestions on what to look for?
Ok just installed and ran a nice straight road [about 2 miles long] both ways.
Not remapped the car yet and its running a BMCCDA and a custom exhaust system. My results standard ecu prog are
If you have standard graphs or modded ecu graphs can you put them here so i can compare please.
:)
Ok received my RS Tuner today and installed software etc.
Trying to connect to the ecu and it does not find the vin on auto, so i enter it manually. I then get a message that the vehicle is not supported!
Anyone got any ideas what is going on?
Mate drove our 172 this morning [he owns a 182] and reckons it has had a remap as it "feels faster than mine". Any way of checking if it has been mapped?
Would be willing to pay someone to check it out for me if you have RS Tuner.
Another classic bit of rumour mongering from Lauda.

As much as i respect Lauda,Stewart etc, i really wish they would STFU sometimes!
Just been to get some tyres fitted on the CS and the guys recomended these.
Apparently they are the tyres that Lotus recommend as a replacement on the Elise so should offer plenty of grip.
£112 fitted for 2 is not to shabby :)
Anyone had any experience of these?
Mrs wants the side strips colour-coded on her ph1,whilst im happy to paint this for her [worked for 6 years as a paint sprayer] i have no idea how to remove/replace the strips!
Any help would be great or push me in the direction of a guide please :)
Ok the wifes car came with a 600w amp running 6x9's in a acoustic parcel shelf. These sound ok if a little harsh, i have a Kicker 300.2 and a 12 inch Kenwood Sub currently sat in a tuned box.
Plan is to install the kicker and build a custom box into the boot/spare wheel space.
There is a set...
