Not much really, if you're going to be gaming - I'd recommend you hook up your PC / PS3 / Xbox or what ever with a wired connection (ethernet) - not wireless, it isn't really that suitable for gaming. Download speed, anything above 1 Meg would be suitable (as long as it's consistent), it really...
No, it needs to go into the 'latchfordhistorygroup.co.uk' folder, so basically move all the contents of the historylatchford1 folder into the 'latchfordhistorygroup.co.uk' folder.
You need to move the contents of the historylatchford1 folder to the folder above it within the directory tree
It probably goes something a bit like this:
- home directory (root)
- public_html directory
- historylatchford1 directory
This is just an example, it will differ between hosts.
You...
Presuming your home page for the site is already called index.htm / .html or default.htm / .html?
It is possible that you have stored it in the 'root' of your FTP one directory up from public_html / www folder, so it is not actually accessible.
The Directory / Path option when you're...
Trick to getting a consistent service is setting your budget a little higher - if you're willing to pay a bit more for your service, you'll get a hell of a lot more for your money. Peak hours of the day most mainstream providers (unless you're on LLU with some providers) will enforce some form...
Evening,
This fault can be triggered when the diagnostics reports that there is line attenuation/noise greater than 60 dB (although this is not always true). First thing I would check is your filters, if you have spares - replace 1 filter at a time and see if the issue improves. Also inspect...
Convert a massive array of video, sound, image & other formats for free (no installation) via http://media-convert.com/
I sound like a bot today :( second media-convert post! It is a fantastic utility though, saves installing anything - all you have to do is upload it. 200 Meg file size limit...
https://my.swbroadband.co.uk/domainchecker.php - nice simply domain checker (quick and easy)
This is difficult to answer, because it completely depends on how computer 'literate' you are - if you're quite technically minded and can get your head around some confusing concepts (to start) then I...
There is a free online utility that'll convert your files from a massive amount of formats (completely free & nothing to install) > http://media-convert.com/
They make their money from long-term hosting and advertising - we use it all the time.
Please keep in mind, if BT is your only option you will be placed on the O2 Connect package which is considerably more expensive and has a fair usage of 10 GB per month (not unlimited as advertised).
There are many ISPs out there who will offer a consistent and reliable service, however as...
There wouldn't be much benefit, if your current router is serving you well and it supports ADSL2+ (up to 24 Meg speed); then there is no real reason to upgrade.
Unless of course you need advanced features, better wireless standard (wireless N for example) or more switch/wired capacity.
Keep...
Hi Dissy,
I think you can just factory reset this Thomson router and reconfigure it with your Sky credentials. However, I've recently learnt that Sky uses a somewhat long-winded process to log you into your broadband service - so it might be more complicated than the average ISP.
You will need...
Chances are the actual Thomson router will be 'locked' to Tiscalis service. You can do a factory reset on some Thomson models and install a standard firmware so you can configure the router to work with other ISPs.
It can be quite tricky, really depends on technically capable you are. There are...

"The current version of firmware for BT Home Hub versions 1.0 and 1.5 is 6.2.6.H"
If you have version 2.0 - your Home Hub should update automatically, so you can cross this off the possible list of faults.
Apparently, versions 1.0 and 1.5 should also self-update. Which has...
Hi Dave,
If your BT Home Hub is quite old (had BT broadband for a long time - received one of the original home hubs), what I would suggest is a firmware update - you'll need to do this via the Home Hub itself and using BT Help.
Your may have the 'BT Broadband Help' application on your PC...
Wireless strength/signal is influenced by so many factors it'd be nearly impossible to pin down the problem from the details you've provided. Unfortunately being a rebranded or proprietary Sky router, it is unlikely to have any external output to attach a better antenna
Really depends how much...
Drop us a PM - we can refer you onto our line supplier, marginally cheaper installation (or free with commitment), cheaper caller rates & no minimum annual/monthly spend.

BT send their routers pre-configured, simply plug it in and you're away. If you've got any wireless devices - laptops, phones, PDAs etc - the wireless security key is on the bottom of the router.

Phone line estimate is about correct - but broadband only takes about 4-7 working days to be activated.
If the property hasn't got an active telephone line, or no line at all - BT charge around £125~ for installation.. if the line is present and all wiring is fine, then it's free to...
That's appalling, telephone lines take a maximum of 14 days to install (1 week at best) - we can roll out a telephone line and broadband connection within a couple of weeks, including installation of the line.
Transfer fee is unnecessary too, are you paying for the installation of the line as...
If you have MSN, add us (sales [at] swbroadband.co.uk) and I'll be happy to help you diagnose the issue.
You're on a relatively small exchange - only serving approximately 4,800 properties; so it shouldn't be exchange issues. It's either a software related problem, router/modem related...
