    DCI chip or tuning box

Oh, and to answer your question about the box: The ones that raise the pressure in the common rail system seems to give a bit more bhp. But, if you are installing an IC, a chip would probably give better and more precise gain - all things being equal.. -CJ

    dynamique lowered

I got a lowered Expression and can only say, that if I had the opportunity and available funds, I would go for a new set of dampers as well. In my opinion they cant really cope in a heavy used-to-be comfortable diesel. -CJ

    DCI chip or tuning box

Im getting a box from FGA Motorsport soon - cant wait to get it installed! Concerning bhp gains it varies a bit. Usually a chip gives the most in terms of top end bhp, but what should be taken into account is also that the "chippers" usually do the measurements themselves. And they are not...

    DCI chip or tuning box

More fuel doesnt necessarily equal more power. Its the amount of air in the cylinder ("the number of air molecules") that decides how much fuel you can burn up -> how much power you get. A gain can be made of simply adding more fuel, but the best way is - all things being equal - to...

    Lowered suspension dci

I thought about the stronger springs too; the salesman told me that they were lowered ones originally made for the 1,4 (MTV). Maybe I should get some real ones -I guess they can and will cause premature wear on the dampers (and maybe more) as well.. Thanks for the link.:-) -CJ

    Clio RSi info

My mums got an RSI (at least for another week or so). Nice torquey engine, not very reliable car - or maybe Im just being annoyed by the tiny niggles and faults that she has to pay Renault £70 an hour to fix. But , if I were in the market I would definately go for the valver its much more of a...

    Lowered suspension dci

As Ive read about before, Im not quite satisfied with the way my car handles. It bounces around on its lowered springs and doesnt feel sporty, just harsh and bouncy. So, my question is: Who produces a proper set of springs and dampers for the dci 80bhp? And who sells them at decent prices...

    Unichip report

Yup, but the standard one is not restrictive, nor is the standard air filter / box. KN etc. might have better air passage, but they alsom have better particle passage, making for a "dirty" engine if youre unlucky. Truth is, only real heavy mods can guarantee you improved performance, the rest is...

    DCI chip or tuning box

Be aware!! Because it is so easy to chip a modern turbo diesel lots of people do a very bad job. Preferably go for one that uses a rolling road in the process, making a tailor made chip for the specific car. Or, if you want to keep the warranty, use a box instead. Some boxes actually give...

    DCi 65bhp to 85 bhp

"The sole job of an intercooler is to condense air.... NOT to keep the engine cool... You use radiators and oil coolers to keep the engine cool!" As far as Im concerned, the IC will lower the temperature of the intake air, lower the temperature of the engine oil and the temperature in the...

    DCi 65bhp to 85 bhp

Before you consider chipping your 65bhp diesel, think about why Renault uses an intercooler on the 80bhp version. Probably in order to prevent the engine/turbo from overheating (apart from giving cooler air, of course..). The Pug 206 HDI doesnt really like being chipped without having an...

    Who has a lowered DCi

I would consider it twice before lowering a dci. Ive got a lowered (by Renault) dci 80bhp and it feels like the dampers cant quite cope with the lowered springs, making the car bounce around when I drive over large bumps/potholes etc. . It looks nice though (havent got a camera to document..)...

    10-40w oil in a 172

I would say that you at least should go for the 5w-40 and preferably the 5w-50. Maybe you cant feel it now, but you will later - thats for sure. The 15w-40 is to my best knowledge a mineral oil and only suitable for old bangers on their way to the scrapyard, not a high-end performance car...;-)...

    Willy - buying hints

The question has probably been posed before - but I cant really find anything. Point is, weve got 3 Willys here in DK; and one of them is for sale!! Its from 1995 (ph.2),and has got 137k kms on the clock.. SO, the big question is: What should I be aware of? Any major reoccuring...

What old fast car for under 10k

Id go for the 911 every time. No spoilers and extra large wheels, just pukka Porsche. Its fast, will drive your nuts off everytime you think youve got the upper hand and sounds absolutely fantastic on top of that. If I were only not living in DK.. Oh my.. -CJ

    Engine differances

Could be the exhaust that is on its way to rusting over. My mother has got an RSI from 96, she got her first (I guess) new exhaust a few days ago. Before it went for good it made a terrible noise - the car as a whole being awfully noisy as it is.. How about your car otherwise? IS it picking up...

    17 oz superleggera wheel rubbing

It happens because the springs will lower a few more mms after youve put them on - just for your info.. Could be, too, that the dampers are a bit tired. -CJ

    !!* Attention lowered 172’s *!!

The cars suspension is set up to steer as neutral as possible. Which means that if you brake during hard cornering (or at high speeds), the back end will step out because of the weight transmission. No magic in that - unless, of course, that it really is to biased towards rear braking (is that...

    1.5 DCI or 1.2 16v

I got the diesel and can only say: Go for it!! It will feel much quicker in everyday driving because of the much better torque. An don the motorway it is such a relaxed cruiser, beating far stronger cars from 120-160 (kph). I just came home from a trip to Amsterdam (live in Copenhagen, Denmark)...

    Lowered dci - bouncing around

Thanks, but the problem is not the handling; I mainly drive around town, so Id rahter have a comfortable car. But I guess the problem is that the springs are too hard compared to the dampers som that the ride gets bouncy instead of comfortable (a 2cv doesnt bounce - it just sort of soak up the...
