After clocking 43 degrees the other week in the track car...I decided a roof scoop would be a good place to start!
I decided on a cup racer style scoop from Chris @ CMComposites. Never used Chris before but will be using him again, good price, rapid delivery and the scoop is perfect. Cheers...
Looking to get a rollcage modified and welded in to a Clio 172. Can anyone recommend someone who is capable of this (trusting them with my safety ultimately).
Hi all,
I need to get my car back on the road next week as the year is passing fast and I want to get some track time booked. I've been trying to reach James/Mike Woodford but struggling so I'm after any other good suggestions. I don't care about a rolling road print out, live mapping on the...
Has anyone fitted one in their car? Im trying to figure out where is the best place to mount the tacho unit (spa unit). Either dash top to right of binnacle or directly on the stalk base/steering column.
I haven't taken a look at the wiring yet, just posting to see if anyone else has done the same.
As my car is completely stripped inside and only running the top of the dash, I was thinking of just taking a feed from the wires to the rev gauge in the dash for the rev signal...has anyone else...
So after a moment of madness where I almost bought a road legal radical...I decided to put some extra love into the Clio and bought this excellent kit from James. Fitting has been easy enough and the kit is great.
I have one question though for those who have these and fitted at home. How did...
I have other things that require my cash so am thinking of selling the cup. Do I sell it whole or strip it?
88k mondial blue. Body in decent condition but its a track car so not concourse! 4 months mot 5 months tax
spec is fairly serious..
Fully stripped and lightened (bumper inserts etc)...
Did this tonight using the gunson hi gauge. Bear in mind the engine was cold as the inlet etc is off at the moment.
cyl 1 200 just over
cyl 2 200
cyl 3 200 just under
cyl 4 190 just over
should I be buying a spare engine any time soon? Car has done 88k and had a top end rebuild at 67k ish.
I have a set of cup racer 2118s for my 172 Cup and they 'just' clear the 4 pot willwoods on the front but are only about 4mm clear of the kw struts up front. Im thinking of spacers and know I need hubcentrics but do you think 10mm a side would suffice? I havent checked on clearance turning the...
I put this on the windscreen but noticed on the bottle it said not for use on plastic or coated materials. I have lexan d glass all round so didnt use it...anyone know if its ok to use?

The car has been off the road for 6 months whilst fitting the custom inlet, I've needed a new filter, new rad lines (and alloy rad) so it's taken a while!
I started the car for the first time today after a full service and as you can see/hear, it's not...
After posting on here for help with the hinges for these doors, I ended up just cutting off the old hinges...the mirror needs adjusting and the door is also hanging slightly low when open.
Total weight (bare door with just handle and lock against stock bare door with just handle and lock) 5.4kg...
Anyone know? Are the hinges on the doors just spot welded on top and bottom?
I need to fit some hinges to my xsport frp doors and cannot believe its such a big task!
Im finally at the point where I need to connect my throttle body to my air filter. The filter neck is 82mm od and the stock throttle body is 73mm od. The distance between them is approx. 30cm. Anyone an idea of the best way to make the connection?
Ive removed my stock doors from the cup and have a set of the xsport frp doors to go on. The problem is the new doors do not have hinges on them. Ive looked at removing the stock hinges but its not easy as they are welded on. Anyone got any suggestions?
Just wondering what other people do (who have an oil cooler fitted). I have a 19 row core mounted behind the front grill to the bottom of the front beam (infront of the alternator). The lines run horizontally to the right of the engine and up past the gearbox to the sandwich plate.
As title, I have a bmc cda fed by a 72mm pipe giving air direct from the passenger headlight (morete).
Would this be better than a maxogen foam filter, both located close to the Inlet. The maxogen will have the air feed pointing at it.
I know the maxogen will sound better! Both filters have an...
If you want to move the coil pack due to fitting a different inlet manifold, has anyone made their own bracket? I have a breather filter on the rear cam cover outlet but what about the oval breather on the top that feeds into the base of the stock manifold? I see several pics on the net where...
Im not interested in opinions as to whether these are any good ;)
What I want to know is whether you can still get these and if the kits kicking around on ebay from bm 45103 part number are direct fit for the mk2 cars?
Anyone fitted a digital dash in their clio? Ive always fancied one and thinking I might fit a cup racer dash at the same time. Apart from the prohibitively expensive stack units...anyone tried the cheaper ones on the market? Id want to do away with the clocks completely and for now be road...
What scoops have people fitted to their track cars and what cost? I dont want to spend mega bucks and although I used to use the wrc style cossie vent..I dont think that will suit the car. I like the scooby vents you can find on ebay but they dont come with the innards. Can I get innards...
I've just got hold of a set of KW V2s to replace the fine, but not so great on track KTR coilovers. The KW's come with pillow ball top mounts that use an o ring to hold them in place. The problem I see is that the housing for the top mounts doesn't fit flush with the strut housing space on the...
I have a set of Carbon F1 style mirrors in the garage and thought about making some base plates up and dropping them on the car. I've weighed the stock 172 Cup mirrors at 578g each, the carbon mirrors with base plates are 462g each. It's not really worth the effort for 232g! can anyone tell me...
So I removed the lower dash on my track Clio the other day in the pursuit of weight saving. The intention was to retain the heater for demisting etc...anyway, ignore whether or not I should remove the heater. I have questions:
Does anyone know the weight of the heater system including matrix...
I've asked Stone and he can't do it (no ramp). I could always use a mobile guy I've used in the past but I wanted to know how long/rough cost for removing the 172 mani and fitting the 182 item. My car has no heatshielding left and has the DCi rack so loads of room. Anyone know of someone who...
I am running Speedline Turbines on my Cup for the track, the calipers and wheels when hot foul slightly. I've ground down where I can to clear but thought about fitting spacers as they'll also increase the track slightly...larger footprint and all that (might be placebo).
Any thoughts on what...
Nothing too amazing on the time front. The Clio (in the dry) was consistently mid 9s when on a solo run, not filming the Swift. In the wet it was another story altogether, worst was a 12.37.936, best was a 10.19.694. The car was lethal on the A048s...
