Blonde at the wheel? First letter in the reg Y?
That would almost certainly have been my wife and yes, that's how she normally drives. She's pregnant now so hopefully she's a bit more sedated.
Cheers, that has put my mind at rest.
I couldn't tell how much it cost as they changed it for free in the end, which is a good thing as it still ended up costing a fortune for the standard Clio service, despite them missing off the belt change.
I'm having a spot of bother getting my dealer to service my 172 as it says in the service schedule.
During my 36000 mile service they did a standard Clio service and not a 172 one and so missed off changing the accessories belt and pulleys. I took it back and asked them to replace the...
I'm not too fussed as I know the bonnet is shut when I shut it as I drop it closed, although some tart has obviously shut it and 'pushed' it shut at some point as it has a small dent (why do people do that). But if they're offering to change them for free then I reckon it's worth a punt, at...
What is actually the problem with them?
I have a slight problem with my 172 bonnet in that when you pull the lever in the car the bonnet dosen't 'pop' up, it appears to be sticking. Even when you try to lift it after pulling the level it dosen't budge. The only way to open the bonnet is for...
According to two other garages the discs do need replacing. Minimum thickness is 7mm and mine are 7.2mm.
Kwikfit wanted £400 to change them, those crazy jokers.
Right Ive had a look at these discs and as far as I can tell theres nothing wrong with them. They arent perfectly flat but they are smoth with only minor undulations in them, in fact theyre in the same condition as the front discs. So I think Ill get a second opinion.
However I am tempted to...
Ok, they are not budging on the discount, except to include the pads as well. They claim that as Ive had 24K miles of motoring out of them I should pay for some of it, which is fair enough. I wont book it in just yet though Ill have a look at them myself and perhaps get a second opinion. I have...
Ive just been offered 66% of the cost for new discs and labour to change the discs, which works out at £150 for new discs and pads + labour, which is pretty good for a Renault main dealer.
Im going to phone Renault UK again though as this has to be a faultly batch of discs, therefore its a...
I found Renualt UKs number and they said to get the garage to phone them and they will try to sort it out, so hopefully it will get sorted.
I really dont understand how its possible. The front discs are fine, and theyve just had a new set of pads, so how have the rear discs worn so quickly in...
Alright there peeps,
My 172 is in for its 24K service and Ive just had a call from the garage to say that the rear discs are worn and badly lapped. The problem is that the car is 18 months old and according to the mechanic the pads are only 50% worn. Considering these are the pads that the...
I should probably point out that this plate is actually inside the boot, not underneath the car.
Basically, open the boot lift the carpet and there it is on the left.
On the boot floor of a 172 (probably most clios) there is an extra plate situated above where the exhaust should be. Is this plate a heat shield or some sort of sound insulation? Also, how important is it, as I assume Renault didnt put it there for a laugh.
Take a photo of the damaged area, higlighting any particular areas that need repair.
Get a couple of quotes for the repair.
Call your insurance company, explain to them what has happened, give them the photos are quotes. Then if they are any good they will chase it up for you and get her to...
I dont think you do anymore not since this "block exemption" do dah. Garage just needs to be VAT registered and use original Renault parts. Got my first service coming up, but Im taking it to the dealer as Ive not found a good independant garage yet.
Err, thats standard trim on the 182 and 172.
"Aluminium Finish Dash Inserts" Read as "plastic dash inserts painted silver"
Unless its part of the ID pack, and they give you real aluminium dash inserts, but I thought that the 182 ID pack only covered body colour?
Thanks to BRUN for pointing me in the right direction.
Renaults official stance is: Theres only one shade of Iceberg Silver.
Everyone elses: No, theres at least 3.
So took the car to a paintshop who do renaults, he got his colour chart out for all the DIFFERENT shades of Iceberg they knew...
BRUN, Ive just checked.
Right my paint code on the door is MV640
The label on the paint pot says UV 1 640
Now, (me puts stupid hat on, whay hey, it fits) these are different, right?
Ha, good dealer (it was Reg Vardy in Sheffield, although they have actually been really good)
Well the story is a bit more complex than what I described above.
I noticed the defect with 2 weeks of getting the car, got the paint and applied it within 4 weeks and noticed the difference. Took...
Which number is the paint code on the plate found inside the drivers door.
Reason I ask is that there was a paint defect on the inside of my iceberg 172 boot and spoiler. Renault offeered to respray the whole boot and spoiler but I said just give me a touch up pen and Ill do it my self (its...
Ive taken out cover for my first track day as I dont know what to expect. I got it from Egger Lawson and it cost £150 for £13000 cover with £1300 excess. It covers me and another driver for anything that happens on the track.
I had exactly the same thing in my 172.
I ended up taking it to renault with the lights on and left the car running while I got someone to come and take a look. It went in for a week and the dealer had to phone Renault UK. Renault UK told them a very specific route to follow in order to...
