1.2 16v engine info

i'm needing to buy a new engine this weekend, a lot of people that have given me quotes can get low mileage engines but my cars a 52 plate and some of these are out of newer cars.i know they changed they manifold and these engines wont work with my ecu what plate i.e 53/04 was it they started using the new manifold?

Very late 53 plate cars I beleive.

Mines a 53 plate but has the older engine but I am pretty sure that there are some late 2003 cars with the newer engine.

How come you need a new engine already?

i do a lot of miles my engines on 92k and needs a rebuild,its easier and cheaper for me just to buy a new one.the timing belt tensioner wasnt changed with the belt either and is ready to come off an i dont want to spend 90 for a belt and tensioner when i could get an over for about double that mate.

u sure it needs a rebuild? mine is at 120,000 and still fine, i know freds is at about 80,000 and has done loads of track days and is still fine

the more miles they do the faster they go!

yep you can hear the bearings in the bottom end knocking like hell,same story with the cylinder head even gave the valve clearances a bash and oil change no difference.after a compression test i'm convinced the best idea is just to put a new one in.its also overfueling which i havnt worked out why yet.
matt black is that 295+vat+delivery or basic price?a breakers in the 01204 area gave me a quote of 282 delivered to the door with 11k
