1.2 16v Engine..

  Naples Valver

i curently have a 1.2rl 1993 and have a chance of getting a 1.2 16v engine from a 2002 clio,

would the engine fit into my clio and what else would i need and how much do you think it should cost? thanks

TBH honest theres no point!!! the engine has only got 75bhp if you want more power slap a R5GTT engine in there

im only doing it because i cant get insured on anything more that a 14rt, and i want to keep the pric down, im not lookng for power, just a nice quiet engine...

it would probably be cheaper to just buy a Clio with a bigger engine (like a 1.4RT) than it would be to fit a new engine to your car. Also your insurance would probably cost a lot more than it would for a 1.4RT as it would be modified.

the RL was a 1.2 SPi want it, and the 1.2 16v engine is MPi, will there not be any problems with the ECU??

as fred says, not really worth it for a couple of bhp, better to go the turbo route

i have been looking at a few RTs but not really found one that i like, just suppose i should keep looking,

do all the 14rts have PAS?

or buy a newish 1.2 16v. can be picked up for reasonable money and, would only cost a little more than dropping the newer engine in your car.

unless your your engine is completely buggered and the newer engine is cheap, then i wouldnt bother. the cost of putting new engines in is quite dear really, i was quoted 1k! but then if you can do it yourself or know of someone who could do it cheap then it may be worth looking into.
