1.2 mk2 ph1 cambelt snapped

She was doing about 50 - 55mph on a dual carriageway and cambelt / timing belt snapped (i assume they are the same things.)

what are the likely cost implications. obviously the pistons will be bent but is there a rough idea on cost????????

valves will almost defo be bent/damamged seen them be rebuilt for around £500 providing damage is not to bad

You can pick up and engine for about £150 and fitting will only take 4-5 hours to remove old and fit new one.

D.I.Y will be a good bit of learning for ya, easiest engine to work on and only 8valves to replace.

^ I'd agree with that, having seen it done, its not as bad as you'd imagin. But aparently you need specific timing tools on the 8v?

had one done before on a 1.2 8v- cost £120 to have the head refurbed. Then obviously new gaskets etc and new belt kit.

Depends what the extent of the damage is, which obviously you'll only find out when you take the head off.
