1.2 Sport :P

I have a mk2 ph2 2005 1.2 clio :L
Due to me already writing off a car at the age of 18 i was unable to get insured on a 2.0 liter (NO SURPRISE)!!!!!!
I am trying to make the car look as "sporty" as i can. Here is a list of some of the things i have done or am planing on doing :-
  • Stubby Ariel
  • LED/Whiter headlight bulbs
  • LED interior light
  • Wind Deflectors
  • New Brakes
  • Fitted heating controls plastic cover (was peeling)
  • New drivers door open/close switch (was snapped)
  • New hazard switch
  • (TO BE DONE) Colour code side plastics
  • (TO BE DONE) 172 Front and rear bumpers
  • (TO BE DONE) Window Tints
  • (TO BE DONE) Spray paint callipers and rear hubs
Apart from all the above what else can i do to improve the car ???? . I dont want it to look like some chavy little halfords made car, but just to make it look abit more decent.

Thanks in advance

If you are going to invest all this money into the car just to get the sporty look and you don't actually mind that it won't have the sporty feel then go ahead, not everyone cares about the performance. Just remember you will struggle to get most of the money back. Avoid sticking a RS badge on it lol, have you thought about any ICE upgrades?

I'd avoid painting the rear hubs and calipers anything but black. It just draws attention to the fact that you have drums and small brakes, that's not what you want if your using sport bumpers.

I realised after I'd done it... Need to find time to do the, black.

why do non sport threads attract so much hate/s**t. There is a lot you can do to improve the looks of them, dont listen to the people that tell you not to waste your money, its your money and car, you do what you want. As I said theres a lot you can do looks wise with mine Ive tried to keep it subtle and also I can sell the stuff on when I get rid of the car (keep your standard parts if you can!). Ive got colour coded front bumper & side strips with smoothed 16V bullets, 172 rear bumper, cup spoiler, turinis, lowered 60/40, stiffer FK shocks for better handling, Recaros, Snappy wheel, dewipered, some carbon dipped bits, some audio upgrades, lighting upgrades. Its your car enjoy it and make it your own and as for painting the brakes go black imo. :)

some snaps of mine, to give you some ideas?

iAs many others have said, its your car, you spend the money you want on it, its isnt always about performance, although having something that is quick is fun indeed... driving without having the most fastest car can still be very fun ) so if you want to spend £5 or £5,000, then go for it :)

That'd actually look really good externally if the wheels were silver!

Are your wheels 15 or 16 mate with what tyre size?...

as plenty on here have said, try and ignore the hate that some people put out about having a non sport on here and you'll do fine
there's plenty of project threads on here in terms of non sports and so long as you know your way round a toolbox most of the work you can do yourself
also remember that if you're gonna put a 172 front bumper on you'll also need to get the 172/182 wings and side skirts as the bumper is wider

apart from spraying the panels and actually building the custom exhaust i've done all the work myself with nothing more than driveway mechanical experience http://www.cliosport.net/threads/ruby-the-1-2-rep.755276/

Cool thanks mate, im alright with the work plus my mate is a mechanic sooo no issues there, and i know about the side wings too, thanks for advice anyway. Is there anyway i could see a pic of the exhaust from underneath, as how did u get around the spare wheel pit :/

@Jayms is alright about pic just seen it in your project thread. You have done an amazing job with that car.
1. Where did ya get your panel sprayed
2. Who did ya exhaust
:)

All the panels were done by a local sprayers called Alwyn Rees but as with anything the more you're willing to do the less it will cost so I did all the prep/filling and fitting myself
As for the exhaust it's a full custom prospeed system from Cardiff with a 200 cell cat, I bought it on here second hand but they're like gold dust trying to get one second hand as they've only built a handful, all custom builds. Brand new standard system without the cat is 430, from what I was told with the sports cat it was 580 so possibly the single most expensive part of the build and probably why a lot of people build 172 reps instead
I've been meaning to grab a video of the exhaust so when I do I'll let you know and I'll grab a photo from under the car aswell
