1.5 DCI engine swap which ECU?

Hi Guy's first post here:

fitting a new identical engine to my 02 1.5 DCI clio which is best?

To keep the engines original ecu injectors etc etc
or keep the cars original ecu and injectors?

what issues will I have from keeping the engines original ecu injectors etc etc if any at all?

You'd have to switch the UCH, key fobs and ecu. Not worth the hassle as when it comes to coding new keys it can cause a whole host of issues in the future

keep the cars original ecu ( your car ) and it will work with the keys, uch and the lot.

peice of piss to swap an engine on these.

and yes the injectors will work with the original ecu' without recoding IF you DONT change the order of the injectors.

ie injector one is gearbox side. so keep them in order and the original ecu's coding will stay the same.

P.s make sure to bleed the fuel system before starting or you'll struggle to get it going.

If you are keeping it longterm it might be a good opportunity to get a new set of injectors and pump onto it, but thats obviously quite a big investment.

in the mark of £400 for a set of injectors ( new ) then coding ontop of that

pump is either recon ( fitted a few without problems ) £260+ postage.
or new from renault/nissan about £500 odd or less. cant remember the proper price.

Yeah. Like I say big investment but if you are planning to rely on it for next couple of years not a bad one. Most of them are getting near to having (or have had) injector or pump problems now.

true, thats why theres loads knocking about spares or repairs. its not because they are unreliable, just down to wear and tear, abused servicing intervals or crap fuel.

anyway back on track....
forgot to say , get a new cambelt kit fitted with the pump ( if you go down this route ) , shoud be about £60-70 from renault wolverhampton on here.
unless you fancy smashing up the valves and injectors.

Thanks for all the replies people.

The "new" engine has had a new recon head, new hybrid turbo, new glow plugs, all filters and belts replaced. injectors have been cleaned and tested by a company.
However those injectors are the engines injectors and not the cars. But i have access to the cars injectors so can switch them over if needs be.

how much is coding the injectors and how easy to do it? since i know the current injectors are sound.

the injector pump may be an investment further down the line as it I've already invested quite a bit and the engine isn't in and running yet

coding will have to be done either at a renault specialist with cLip computer or a very good diagnostics machine that can code the c2i codes for injectors.

price wise is dependant on he rate the garage charges.
