1.6 dynamique engine noise

i think the 1.6 sounds nice mines got a nice growl to it but it wont turn over in this cold weather i think the guy who sold it to me hasnt put anti freeze init
 
mine doesnt sound like that! Actually think somethings wrong with mine though, lol
 
Sound like mine did pre resonator removal. Does have a nice noise to it. But do this:

Then record it, now thats a proper noise.
 
102mm or there abouts I think, performance difference none I can tell and I don't expect there to be any. Noise difference massively, if you want to hear what it sounds like then take the resonator off and go for a drive it'll heatsoak like mad (which is why the ducting is needed) but it'll sound the same. Its a very deep bellowy noise low down the range and it just sounds ace up the top end.

Its got a K&N panel filter too, that makes a difference as well.

Think its that stuff though it could be bigger, I worked out the diameter I needed using Pi.
Pretty sure its that stuff as the circumference of the airbox mouth is ~300mm and 102*pi=320.
 
mmm think i'll be doing that tomorrow then! Where did you get the ducting from? Im quite surprised how goes the engine sounds already tbh!

OMFG i have that same problem, think i need to clean out throttle body!

Can't hear the sound as i'm at work but i'll have a listen when I get home :D

I'll post one of mine too, i've got some "underbonnet" clips :)
 
Pah! That 1.6 is quiet, ok mine's a Corsa, but has new backbox and induction kit so it's alot louder than that. I think faster too! ;)

actually now u come to mention it....... mine did that once when i left it in a more exposed parking position and when it was rather cold!

f**k knows what it was. that was about 2 years ago now. never done it since
 
its only happend since its been cold its got anti freeze init i tryed starting it today it took ten turns of the key on and off before it turned over f**king strange mate i cant c what it could be maybe the starter getting frozen ?
 
they are french you know ;) hehehe! i dunno mate, im gonna try and clean out my throttle body with a whole can of carb cleaner and see if that makes it any better??
 
Mine used to stall after a cold start occasionally, had to hold revs for about 20 seconds before it was ok.
 
Mine doesnt do any of that buton the odd occasion it has a fit and wont idle unless you give it a bit of a rev.....
 
yup sounds like a common fault then, mine does all that has been said, but like you al if you hold constant 2k revs for 20 seconds its fine :)! weird :S!!!
 
^mine sounds more like yours from inside but really roars near the limiter.....
 
I'd say it roars more up to the top end but the recording is s**te to say the least. Still I think the underbonnet one sounds mental :evil:.
 
dont know whats happened all of a sudden but i appear to have quite a bad missfire, going to change all my plugs to see if that cures it but im thinking it could be a coil? what do you guys think, Cheers Mike.
