10k to Change to 197

Been down to Renault today and had another test drive.

I really do like this car, it feels SO roomy! Steering IS noticeably a bit numb but I reckon you get used to it and gain more trust in it.

Dealer offered me £6800 trade on my 182 Cup packs with 38k on it. The 197 specced up came out to something like 17k so its 10k to change.

Said if I took the F1 edition I could have 0% finance for the 3 years at £286 a month. Sorely tempting but SO much money for a Clio!

Nah you will just pay a premium for it, deffinitely wait for several months. The 197 will drop in price big time compared to yours so its all good.

keep your 182..and buy a mk1 vee....or trade the 182 to a mk2 vee..which will actually hold its value..unlike the 197

I reckon the price wasnt too bad he gave me on trade in to be fair its just the massive price of the 197 which is the issue.

Nope you can get them off the net for £13.5k or so.
I woulnd't pay that sort of money to swop ever its good don't get me wrong but £10k is a lot fo money.

Im surprised the 197 doesnt come with xenons as standard like the 172/182 FF bit of a downgrade for a newer model. 17k can get you a second hand M3 why buy a clio?!?!?!?

Sell yours privately and get another £500-£1000 and then take out a low interest loan for the difference. Don't give the stealer anything!

Alos if your prepared to go for a 6month old to a year old 197 you can get one for £12-£13 with 6000 miles and all options. Sorry but buying new is a waste of time and money!

Why did you buy a clio 172 then Chris? I'm sure when you bought that you could have bought a load of other cars for the money with better performance. Feeling a bit behind the times maybe with the 172?

this is exactly the position I was looking at 6 months ago, a 10k deal for a 197, but then I opted for a 10k deal on the 225, a bigger, faster & much better specced car for the same money.

£10k cost to change, that is a hell of a lot of money, and your 182 isn't even that old!
£10k could go towards a deposit on a house, buy to let, use the rent to pay the mortgage on it, then sell up in a few years when the property has appreciated.

I don't own any cardigans, It's got to be years since I drank hot chocolate and I work nights. 197's are well worth the money and oh how much are M3's to buy brand new again (about double a 197 if not more I'd say). Yes there's a lot of cars you can buy second hand for the money but as far as a brand new car is concerned it's a good value motor and very fun and enjoyable to drive (go on you might like it). If your not going to get a 197 keep with your 182 and wait for a second hand 197 in a few years I wouldn't go wasting your money on another make (in my opinion).

You'd have to be a mug to trade in a 182 at a dealer, and that offer in general is ridiculous! I'd never buy a new Renault unless it was a bargain deal from one of these importers.

I don't think the dealers will be giving deals on the 197 F1 as it's limited production, I read that it has about £1600 of extra kit on it anyway (recaros, xenons, keyless entry and ingnition), given that the RRP of a 197 is £15995(F1 is £17250), I guess it ain't too bad.

I wouldn't say that at all, the only thing that's better about the megane is the turbo, if you put a turbo on a 197 it would be quicker and they have the same engine, other than that they don't look as nice as a 197, they don't handle as well as a 197 (so I've been told), they're more expensive than a 197 and in my opinion a worse car than the 197. I can't see how anyone could think the meganne was VASTLY better if they think it's better at all.

I think if they did a 197 turbo that would be the best of everything Renault (in my opinion)

I'll give you your do's though, you've got balls to say it in a Clio forum lol.
