15 Clio v6's on honister pass yesterday!

  Tangoed Works
Just got back from a Week in the lakes myself. A beautiful place and you must have had major fun in the clios. Stunning!

  BG V6, LY 182
S30 SPT looks absolutely fantastic. I wish i could have come to this. It would have been a last hurrah before I sell!

J30* ;) but thanks! Comments like that make me wanna keep it the way it looks. But I have the devil on my shoulder saying I should put it back silver! Torn on what to do.

I like it how it is now, normally I'm not a fan of all black, but this works well. I like the gold calipers too :)

I honestly don't think pictures do it justice either. Looks so much better in the flesh. It's got the carbon bonnet too, undecided about that also!

I was never a huge fan of black on black, vents etc...but as soon as we pulled into INGS your car looked the business!

Unless you go back to silver, and sell me the KW's ;)

I just listened to the vid clips, they all sound sweet. I did lol @ the three point turn in the first vid.

They all look awesome & seeing these pictures makes me want a Vee even more.

The silver 255 - H1 OOG looks superb :approve:

The optional 19s on the LY look great too.

FLOL, just get one Craig!

btw, they're not actually 19's just 18's but running 4 rears. Thought to only be 4 or 5 sets in the world.. They look stunning

I didn't even clock the bonnet, sorry.

What does this mean? I don't understand, he's got rear wheels on the front too?

Yep, unknown weather all sets were like this or not..but it sure looks good!
Ah right, I've not seen that before. I though the offsets were completely different, I know mine are really weird! I've always wanted a set of those wheels though!

What wheels have you got on yours mate?

edit: there's a huge spacer on the front though for the rear wheels, otherwise they would be miles off fitting

Werent you considering an Astra VXR?

Not an Astra lol I thought about leasing a new corsa vxr or the nurburgring one. But for the same money for a decent spec one a month, I got a loan for the vee and got something I always wanted. Best decision I made.

+1, it's not just a car it's the ownership experience that comes with it

Saturday proved that for me, can't agree more. And I'm sure there'll be plenty more days like that too come.

How do you find the running costs against a 1*2/mk3?

I'll give you my input on the costs so far. (Colin will Probablys be better though)

Mines not a daily, I have a work van for that. But generally when driving round town, door to door etc I'm getting anywhere from 18-22mpg. Or in money terms, 20 quid gets you 80ish mile. That's vague so the mpg might not work out to be 80 mile.....

During this lakes meet, from leaving and retuning to my house I done 310 mile. Filled it with 80 quid of petrol. With an average of 26.5mpg. 100 mile there and back, so that's 200 miles at 60-70. And 110 miles driving round, and Colin will agree, we weren't hanging round at some points. Aswell as driving through towns so lots of stop starts. I was more than happy with that.

I haven't had any servicing costs yet, thankfully, belts Etc due early 2015 but I want them done next year so gunna get it serviced, fluids, belts, water pump and maybe clutch. So expecting anywhere around 1200 if not a little more.

Oh and Tyres Iv been looking at 140 each, luckily don't need any yet, was just curious.

and for a laugh for you, I looked at getting another set of pods, Renault prices....580 for the left side, 650 for the right side ;)

It costs me about £60 in petrol to go to Birmingham & back (I live in Essex) servicing, for cam belt etc easily £1000 I've had mine for 6.5 years now (Mk1 in Blue)

Knuckles

ClioSport Admin
Knuckles would it be a daily or an occasional toy?

Both? I may be in the position to have a Toy (not that I'd be able to get a vee just yet)

cheers invexis, the mpg doesn't seem much worse than mine, I do 120ish miles a week to £30

but f**k the belt prices lol, engine out isnt it? And tyres sound about the same too

wtf are renault on charging that much... And then charging different prices lol

Mines extremely lucky if it does 1000 miles per year so I'm not the best to give true running costs, but as Paul says, your lucky to get 23 mpg, and mine also used £80 of V-Power on Saturday, I just love the way it cruises on motorways, so effortless, stable and planted at "some" mph ;)

You will think your doing really well for fuel, until it goes below half a tank and then it plummets! I used the lower half of the tank and then some more just coming home from Lancaster to Carlisle (around 70 miles)

In 2 and a half years ownership mine has only cost me £99 for a Renault oil and filter change and £400 for 2 front Pilot Sport 3 tyres, so if you don't use it a lot the costs are next to nothing. (obviously)

Due imminently is my cars second Cambelt change, as it turns 10 years old next month, even though this Cambelt has only done around 7000 miles in 5 years, I'm changing it to keep the cars history in top notch, and for peace of mind as well, when the engine is out I will fit a clutch, again just as it makes sense to do it now rather than in 2 or 3 years time.
Cambelt and clutch service is approx £1200-£1400 depending on where you take it.

Otherwise, brake discs are your killer from Renault but APEC do a tried and tested alternative and a set of 4 discs can be had for under £200

Body panels are fast becoming unattainable with many not available at all anymore, so any damage at all can pretty much write a Vee off, iirc one side skirt is £1700ish for example

i can't agree more with this, I used just over one notch driving to the lakes. Drove round all day and before I came back it was still on half way. Drove the 100 miles home, and it's In the red, used half the other half of the tank! Very strange.

Colin, do you know if the wheel bearings can be pressed out ok? I'm sure I can hear a rear one, need to have a little look when I get a chance. Strange thing is, the guy said he put new disks all round, which I assume come with the bearings in?

It is an engine out job yeah. That price isn't Renault, it's from a specialist, Renault would be well over £3000 for a cambelt change.

Haha I want one so bad Colin but it would have to be the sunflower that makes way not the 197 as I couldn't have two toys...decissions decissions.

Ohh really I thought they were 19s my mistake, they look great though.

Those last pictures & videos are awesome looked such a good day out wish I was there to see it.

I run mine everyday when i can, they're not bad on fuel TBH, on a motorway run it'll do 35mpg, track however 5mpg (you can empty the tank in just over 2hours if you try LOL!)

i don't get some V6 (and "special car") owners though, what's the point in having something cool but only doing 1000miles in it per year? I've done that in a week, my face got sore from smiling and my wallet got empty, worth every penny! Its a crime not to use "special cars" IMO
