16v/Clio instrument facia/dials - help!

Ive got a blown bulb in my dash (for dipped beam) and just want to get the clocks out of the dash.

I have no troble until it comes to trying to pull the cables out of the back of the speedo/rev counter unit. Theres no room to slide my hand behind the unit and it wont just pull off! Help!

Anyone done this before with success? Any tips??!

i took one out of a clio rt in a scrappy, was a right barstid to get out,as it wasnt mine i resorted to snipping all the wires with pliers! I think i would have been able to get them off but not back on again! hardest bit was the speedo cable, it has two screws in the back. I think daz has taken his clocks out before, suprised he hasnt replied already those posts of his are clocking up at an incredible rate!

Put ya hand on speedo cable, and you have to pinch it together at the end - very small gap, but it can be done!

Done mine loads of times!

simple ben, drag some young kid off the street and give then 2 quid to put their tiny hands in there!

the speedo is just clamped on if ya like!

daz on the one i took off it was actually screwed in with two screws, i cut all the wires then had to try and twist the whole clocks facia round to get to the screws.

screwed in? eh? Mine wasnt.. no holes for any screws!

its really easy. just might scratch your hands a bit. you kinda twist the connector on the cable dont you? I just kinda did that and it came off, then you got room to pull the connectors off as they have more length.

Give um a good tug! There is quite a bit of give on my cables so i can just about get them loose.

Ben,

Try pulling the speedo cable through the bulkhead more (Passenger side footwell) to give you more room to get your hand in behiond the dials!

Ok - did it!!!

Cheers for the help. I just gave it a massive tug in the end.

Then I replaced the wrong bulb and had to pull it all apart again!!!

Ive done mine twice now, u replace the knackered bulb re-fit it & another bulb breaks instantly jus out of spite.

Ben, does the outside temp box just unscrew off? Thanx, Mikey.

Yup - screws straight off.

While were kind of on the topic, would it be easy to clock the car??? The mileometer didnt look ivincible to me!
