16v head with f7r

Got myself a 16v head, thinking about trying to get hold of an f7r bottom end, from a megane, am i right in thinking that i can use the 16v head with the f7r bottom end with no troubles.

Currently running a standard 16v but its clocked up 125k and is getting a bit tappy, cant afford to be without a car so would like to build a 2ltr engine up to drop in.

Is the 16v head identical to the williams head? same cams etc?

thinking of porting the head for slight power gains and fully rebuilding the bottom end if i can get hold of one.

Sound like a good idea?

It'll fit on yea.

16v head isnt identicle, smaller inlet valves and different camshafts.

Porting the 16v head is always a good idea, you only need a mild bowl port for street use.

Ho Tobe,
I think the cams in a 16v are are the same fitment,but the lift/duration is different.Williams cams have slightly more lift.If you ring around the tuners they will verify whether this is correct or not.The inlet valves are 2mm smaller,again so I have been told,as one of my engines has a 16v head on,and is going to have Williams valves in it.
Why not go for some high lift cams ~~~~ guilty of a plug here,I am selling some high lift race cams on ebay item number 4607841833 .

haha, unfortunatley i wont be buying any cams at the moment, probably more like in the summer. but its worth a try. hopefully someone else will read this any fancy them...

Think this is the route i will go, 16v head, bit of head work and some cams...

probably 16v exhaust manifold for lower down torque..
valver box, just because i already have one..

What about ecu and wiring? i guess i can use the 1.8 loom and either chip the ecu to 2ltr spec or get hold of a williams ecu? is there any difference in the williams bottom end and the megane lump? any preference on which is best to use? weight wise etc?

same weight, use the megane bottom end, its stronger.

1.8 loom is fine, chip the ecu.

sweet, thanks ben. now its just a case of finding a megane bottom end floating around, there was one on ebay a few months ago which would have been handy...

Ill keep an eye out.
