172 / 172 cup discs the same?

I have searched, but I haven't found the answer.

With the 172 cup not having ABS, are the discs themselves the same?

From what I have read so far, I think they are the same disc, but the cup just doesn't have the ABS ring.

Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question to some, but I don't know, I need to know and I have tried to find out.

I bought mine and they didn't have an ABS ring.

However the discs that were originally on did already have an ABS ring on - so for the sake of it I just put the old ABS ring onto my new discs.

And yes is the answer to your question.

As above the discs are the same if they have the abs rings on or not.
