172 & 182 front end

  R26

I read in a magazine last night (cant remember which one) that the 182 has a slightly modified front end to that of the 172 ?????

What are they talking about - I cant see a difference - am I blind.

Also - I really like the nose on the Mark I 172 but think the back looks pretty rank.

Opinions please ?

The 182 has modified suspension and uprated hubs and is wider at the front (I think). The differences arnt huge though.

Anyone noticed that the Cup Front Spoiler is now used on standard 2005 Clios (as well as Sport rear spoiler)? Everything from the Authentique to the Dynamiques get the new styling. That along with the fact that Met Paint also gets you colour coded bumpers these days means cosmetic differences arent too huge.

Agreed,

Front of Mk1 with back of Mk2 with alloys from 172 Cup, interior from mk2, pace and agility of the cup and id be sorted! Oh.......and NONE OF THE DRIVING POSITIONS!

I think Mk1s just look a bit old and tired now. Id definitely not say the front end looks mean but thats because the Mk2 front end DOES look mean. If the Mk2 didnt exist then i suppose the Mk1 front end would look quite mean. Its all relative. Mk2 is definitely an improvement all round.

Visually the only difference between the Mk2 172 and 182 front end is the grey background to the light clusters rather than black

The 172 Cup had a marginally wider track due to the wheel offset

182s come with stockier 205 width tyres rather than the 195s supplied on the 172
