172 / 182 link pipe - DIY silencer

Does anyone make a 'silenced' decat link pipe for use on 172's with 182 manifold conversions?

Also, if you take one length of pipe, build your own silencer around it, will it silence the same as a off the shelf unit or does it need the perforation's in the inlet pipe to be effective at silencing?

Been running a cut down Janspeed for a number of years but theres issues with it so after a new one.

Can you make your own silencer onto a normal section of straight pipe or will it be ineffective?

The only difference i can see is silencer internal pipes have millions of holes in them but not sure if this has any added effect in silencing or what the reasons is.?
