172 brake upgrade - track day go-ers?

  53 Clio's & counting
right guys brakes are soon on my list,il be doing a few tracks this summer so after something reliable but as i do mostly a/b road driving nothing track orientated

i had a set of vented discs and 1144s on my old hybrid and bearing in mind it hit 100 in under 14 secs they were quite impressive

now my other half drives the car too so as above any pads that take a while to warm up is a no no, so that is why im swinging back to the 1144's for the 172, now i will be having the usual goodridge hoses too (impressed me in the past) but what about discs? would new standard ones be fine for the use im looking? or will they need upratign also?

and are the 1144's good? who has used them?

any other suggestions for pads?

cheers guys

Standard discs and money-no-object, Pagid Blue pads.

The M1144s will be a small improvement over standards for track use.

really mate? i never found much fade in my old hybrid even when leaning on hard with the 44's i guess 55's will be a bit much or what i need?

ok so with the blue's how much are we talking? do they need much warming up?

cheers

looks very nice cheers fred, interestingly i see the discs are not grooved, ic never liked drilled but will a grooved disc not offer any advantage?

cheers :)

  Weeman sucks ****
hi

2 sets i've done now and iirc peperami has aswell. the max discs are apparently fine with ds2500's

carbone lorraines FTW :)

ok so im confused now lol

im not looking for out and out track set up,just something with less fade and better performance that can be used from cold

lol, you'll be fine with the brembo hc's and ds2500's then. quite a cheap brake upgrade too, if you can get the discs trade like i can ;)

yeah im sure i can ;)

i do lean on my brakes at times, but the car is my daily driver ans my other half uses it so i cant be with brakes that dont perform untill hot if that makes sense?

i forgot to say the discs i had on my hybrid were max torque discs with 1144 pads which were good, but iv never tried ds2500's so maybe that could be the best idea, i will be getting new discs too so that package does look very tempting....

Id go with freds ideas. Ive got brembo max groove, ds2500 discs, braided hoses and they are more than adequate as far as im concerned. 2 weeks ago while i was at the ring i did 10 laps all in all. at one point i did three laps in a row and never once suffered brake fade. Ive done three ring trips now and the discs arent warped or damaged in any way. Just remember to cool brakes down sufficiently after they have been used heavily!! I have heard that the pagid blue pads are slightly better with temperature but have yet to find the need to go to them. They fit pagid blues in 911's from factory so must be decent pads :) i find the ds2500's pretty good tho and work fine from cold.

your best bet will be brembo high carbon disks and ferodo ds2500 pads its a good setup i had it on my car for a while .
i now run performance friction 97 pads with the brembo disks which is the best setup for a Clio with out spending mega bucks .

if i was you i would call Andrew at yozzasport and ask him what option to go for he has never sent me wrong yet .

his number is 07718 790098
