172 Brakes & Suspension Advice

Last August had some OEM spec front disks and pads fitted at local garage, Got them from BBPT, since done 8k miles and although discs and pads look fine I think my brakes have just lost that something. Also just dug out my 24k service sheet and the rear pads were 60% worn then.

Could it be the BBPT discs/pads are not as good as OEM or could it be I just need brakes bleeding ? Car will be 3yrs old in November. Reckon I'll need 36k service by July/August

I don't do track days but considering bleed, upgraded front pads and new OEM rear pads, for me I don't see point in Goodridge lines

Would EBC Green fronts, a bleed and new OEM rear pads improve things ? or do you reckon the BBPT disks are poor and replace them with the HC Brembo's ?

Also will OEM dampers with 32k miles be ok for Eibach Sportlines ? I wanted the 40mm drop from Apex's but been told they'll shag my dampers, and the Eibach Pro's don't seem to lower much, everyone comments my standard 172 seems to sit lower than most anyway so reckon Sportlines should be a compromise, are they progressive too ?

Brake Question:

yes, upgraded front pads/fluid change will help lots (rear pads only needed if they're worn... they do naff all)

Damper Question:

Eibach Sportlines will be fine with standard dampers.

I'd bet you need the system bleeding and some better fluid putting in. Thats always the best idea.
I have to bleed my brakes ever year or so.

Cheers for the quick reply, Is it likely the BBPT discs are genuine Renault items, If so I'll leave them alone but I'm paranoid they may be inferior ones, Although they were approx £55ish I think. The pads were definitely Renault items though.

Are the DS2500's worth the extra £30 over the EBC Green, even on OEM discs ?

If you need better brakes then 2500's are great but only if you need them stock are fine for 99% of people.

I don't think BBTT are likly to be inferier there not much they can do wrong assuming there not fancy drilled ones which can cracke and ther groves fill up. Thats a more obvious problem though.
