When i bought a new battery for my 172 it was sealed and ready charged . I had to fit it on the car park of the place i bought it cos the original was fcuked and i needed jump leads to get me going .
Sealed batteries can be charged , they are only maintenance free as in they shouldn't ever need topping up .
Just stick the new one on and try it . Once the cars running it'll add a charge to the battery anyway .
