172 cup cambelt/aux belt

  182, GTR, C63
I've been looking at a few cups and one of them needs the cambelt doing. I've already had a search and couldn't find out if the cup needs the AUX belt doing aswell?

I know the cups don't have aircon and that makes the belt change cheaper but I have no idea what an aux belt is?

From my search it seems the cambelt fitted at a specialist would be around £300?

You need a full cambelt kit, approx £120 and an aux belt only which is about £15, a specialist charge in the region of £300 - £400, plenty of renault specialists on here, and cos its a cup its a bit less of a fiddly job

Cheers Dean I'll have a look who's closest in South Yorkshire area. I'd rather buy a car and have it done as then I know it's been done, and done right.

Aux belt drives the Alternator, water pump and Power steering pump and is run of the crankshaft pulley, it is visible at the bottom front offside of the engine bay, this one you can change yourself easily.
Cam belt drives the cam shafts and oil pump and is also driven by the Crankshaft pulley. This is the expensive one and enclosed behind the Aux belt, you would have to take the cam belt cover of to see it. Costs £300 to £600 to change depending who does it.

And yes if you have it done yourself, peace of mind.

Aux belt is very very easy on a cup. 15 minutes work. Cambelt is also pretty easy, don't think anyone is over 300 now. I do them for around 250 depending distance I need to travel
