172 cup engine mounts?

Car  172 Credit crunch edition
Hi all i recently bought Subway's 172 cup and just had it serviced at a renault dealer and asked them to change the engine mounts. Went back this afternoon and they told me that there is nothing wrong with the mounts??? its just the way the engine has been re-postioned after the accident, apperently its the exhaust hitting the heat sheild that is causing it to bang???

if its an aftermarket exhaust, then it will probably bang around if it aint been fitted right. an explanation of the noise / problem would help, instead of saying you wanted the engine mounts changed and they ddn't change them, why did u want them changed >?

I wanted them changed as when you acellerate in first, second and sometimes third it knock's
And it is standard exhaust

i see, thant helps. just do it yourself then, bottom one is easy, so is o/s the hardest one will be the n/s

have a look underneath, and if u can see where it rubs you can most likely bend the shield back some more, as it is angled quite tight aroudn the exhaust, and you can bend it away from the exhaust to make lots of room for it to move around. maybe check the exhasut rubber mounts whilst u are underneath

depends on how they test drove it, if they drove it slowly then they won't hear your knocking, so won't change it, their are lots of threads about loosenign the engine mounts and pulling the engine foward with something whilst tightening the engine mounts back up so engine is pulled towards front of car - think Fred said that

its hitting the subframe, not any 'heatsheids' they are only made from tin lol. The drivers side top engine mount needs adjusting, slacken it off, then prise or 'pull' the engine forward, then as its still forward nip up mount, job done,
