172 cup gearbox

Hi im new to cliosport.net and i wouldent have wanted my first post to be a problem that I have but it is. My gearbox just went in my 52 plate 172 cup. A m8 of mine got a box out of a 02 172. my cup has the speedo at the back of the box could anyone tell me if the one out of the 02 172 would fit? or if the ratio would be diffrent? thanks for any info.

if your mate's one has the same speedo drive then it'll fit no bother

Kool thanks, i got to go have a look at it tomoz got my fingers crossed that it has dont want to be looking out for one over christmas.

sorry to jack your thread m8 but does any1 know if this will work the other way round i.e 172cup gearbox in a 172

Gearboxs will all fit, it's just the speedo might not work. Speed feed location, ie. Abs sensor or gearbox sensor, will need adjusting via clip to get the speedo to work. Saying that, I'm not sure if the wiring is there for the box sensor though on the 1*2 models which use abs sensors. Renault leave stuff on looms that are redundant so it might be.

you wouldn't need to use it if it's assigned to ABS readings, just leave a sensor in to block the hole

What about the opposite though Dan? Box which runs abs readings onto a cup (iirc that's the only 1*2 without) without abs?
