Bilt Hamber soft clay with fallout / tar remover beforehand.

It technically only needs water for lube but I tend to use snowfoam for added glide! But you could mix up a spray bottle with car shampoo and water.

Fantastic mate. Thank you. I'll give that a go. Just in places the paint feels a little rough, whilst I've got the time I may as well improve it.

Update Time - Final Bits

This update is rather a small one as It's been quiet on the car front recently. I'm guessing most of you have seen the advert for it on here and on Ebay. The good news is a buyer has been found, a enthusiast who already has a Flame Red 172 in a factory condition. We're awaiting the lockdown restrictions to be reduced or removed to complete the sale. I'll be sad to see it go but I'm confident it will looked after and will hopefully appear back on here with the new owner.

As for the work I've been doing on it, I've dropped the car off at my Girlfriends Dad's place last week to have the PDR treatment done, overall I'm really pleased with the results, all of the minor dings and dents on the door have been removed. If anyone needs it doing in the Northamptonshire region, let me know.

I've managed to get hold of a couple of small bits that we're annoying me that we're either broken or not fitting right, so these have been sorted today.

I'll hopefully have the final few things ordered from RPD for the engine bay this week. Other than this I'll enjoy it whilst I have it...

First job was to replace the broken seat belt holder, fiddly job to do but satifiying now it's done. Followed the helpful guide of @mossyv6

Replacement radio control stalk, mine had snapped clips, so it kept falling out. Nice easy job to keep it looking factory.

Cleaned the pedals up, not perfect! I'll grab some Autosol this week to do them properly.

Lastly, I changed the washer jets to Mist items. I heard this is a must with these cars. Vast improvement.

Update Time

A couple more smaller jobs done this week, more boredom than requirement if I'm honest. Whilst I'm awaiting the return of the 182 from Beaniesport I've ordered a selection of replacement nuts & bolts for various things on both cars, I started this week by replacing the M6 Bolts on the inlets, fuel rail and coil pack.

I changed over the bolts holding the wings to the slam panel and replacement black screws holding the spoiler onto the boot, just to tidy up and remove any rusty looking bolt, unfortunately no pictures of these.

I'd like to figure out how to adjust the glove box as it's dropping a little on one side, I cannot see anything to obvious, any ideas?

The new owner is awaiting clearance on Sunday hopefully to arrange collection, so just keeping it clean and tidy until then.

A quick before image below, shows it wasn't awful but certainly an improvement to match the bolts on the air box.

What’s going on with the coolant? Looks really low on the first pic, and almost orangey in colour, then in the last pic, full and a luminous green (the correct colour)?

Yeah I noticed it too. The earlier image is when I changed the coolant and tank over. The newer ones must still have the old coolant in, I've drained it since and refilled with new Type D.

You’ll miss this car, one of my biggest regrets was selling my 172 cup, was factory fresh by the time I had finished with it, like yours.

Collection Day

So today the prospective new buyer will be viewing the car for the first time, we've spoken at length numerous occasions. I'll certainly be sad to see this one go it's been a real pleasure and not a choir like the 182 is currently!

I gave it a full clean and detail inside & out for the last time. I'm not expecting the buyer to drive it away today but over the weekend no doubt.

Progress will continue on the 182 hopefully from next week.

Here's some pictures for now, nothing new just clean!

Congrats on your sale as heartbreaking as it is. Good to see it’s potentially sold in current climate as mine maybe going up for sale due to my partners work situation with covid 19.

I thought so too, but clearly the world does not want me to sell it.. the buyer changed his mind in the final moments as he couldn't justify the cost of this one and keeping his other on the road. Surely before make a 2 hour drive you'd have that worked out already. Nether less if you do decide to sell it, good luck mate!

I've genuine sadness that I couldn't buy this from you. Genuine. 100%.

Sniff.

Must be a sign Mark, its back up for sale and available. (y)

Wtf! Ultimate tyre kicker? So frustrating when this sort of thing happens. I had the same selling an Impreza years ago.

Such a great looking Cup [emoji7] did you end up selling it in the end?
Thank you mate. I did sell it back in April, I heard the new owner is using it on track aswell as weekend hack. I do miss it.. Regret selling it looking at the pictures again.

It’s nice to find a low owner original one like this with a fantastic service history! Looking forward to improving a few areas that require minor attention on the body. Interior is in fantastic condition.
I’ll send you my email and that would be great to send across some more pics! Cheers

Just needs some love on the body, nothing major and most importantly it appears rust free! 3 previous owners and full Renault History including 3 belt changes and I even have the original invoice when purchased brand new in 2003!
