172 Cup service Dilema.. help?

  306 TD Slut
Right!

i have a 52 plate cup, 32k on the clock. its had a service at 14k, and not had one since.

went to book it in today but didnt know which service to go for.. the 24k service (which it missed) or the 36k service, which is a biggie.

since owning, couple of months, i have put new discs and pads and tires on the front.

which service to do go for?

thanks:)

thats what i thought.. its booked in for the 24k at the mo, along with its MOT which is due on the 19th

Get the 36k done, as its coming up to 4 years old. Make sure they change the alternater belt

you think it will make a big difference when i come to sell it, the fact that its missed a service. ive lost the receipts for the tires and brake parts too, but you can visually see wear and tear on them i guess

For brakes and stuff having the receipts wouldn't matter to me as you should be able to tell how abused they are by driving the car/looking for wear. The missed service may put some people off but if you can show that you have looked after it well then you should be fine.

And irc the aux belt should be every 5 years for a 172...

i think im gonna go and book it in for the 36k service, get it done and out of the way, and if i come to sell it beofre it hits 36k then bonus for the buyer

Not really with the mileage you've got which is low. Wouldn't worry about brakes you can get pads for peanuts if you shop around

Snap! Mines a 52 plate on 32k.

As others have said, go for the 36k as it would be a waste not to seeing the aux belt is due at 36k anyway.
If you fancy doing your own services from now on its really easier than you'd think.
I've changed my oil and filter about every 8000 miles, sometimes less as its only about £8 quid to buy a new filter and sump plug washer.

No doubt, after a good 17k since the last service, you oil will be nicely blackened and thin!

i normally do basic stuff myself like, oil/filters/discs/pads/bleeding etc..

stuff like cambelt i just be arsed with, especially with a renault.

36k is quite a big one, theres a guide round here somewhere with a break down of each service.

Im fairly sure the only difference between the 24k and 36k is the aux belt - which you should really get done now - go for the 36k

Oh so its had its oil changed since the last service at 14k?
I bought mine with about 8200 miles on it and Renault did a service before i picked it up but its not seen a Renault workshop since...well only for a windscreen seal.
Done everything else myself...oil/filter changes, coolant change, brake fluid change the lot!

Having a go at brake pads soon but the aux belt is gettin done professionally.
Just not sure where yet.

Stamps means nothing these days, my mate just makes up a stamp for his CTR (Honda Specialist Garage, Hants etc) i just keep the reciepts, i dont like anyone working on my car but me.

Ditto. Im much the same. Kept all my parts receipts and just written in the service stamp boxes what was done and the mileage.
All genuine parts and all done to my exceptionally high standard!
It helps i have proper mechanics for advice where i work...and all the tools a lifts.

Aux belt isn't actually going to damage anything if it breaks AFAIK, you'll just fail to proceed. I was in a similar situation and just got the belt carefully checked instead. It was fine, so I'll just get it done next time if it needs it.

Your joking arnt you, there is a big chance it will take the cambelt out with it, not worth the risk.

IIRC the previous owner had the AUX done before he sold it as it went on his wifes clio and took the cambelt with it. he had it done at 20k ish as a precautionary.

Im gonna get them to give it a once over just to check and see what condition it is in.
