172 Cup vs TB'd 172

Was definatley quicker low down....3rd gear is good for 93ish...was about 110is b4 he came past....very quick car especially at those speeds

Very interesting...5k for TB's or roughly 1.2k? for your work?? Jon still got a bargin though buying it 2nd hand :)

lol I just realised that I've uploaded the wrong vid...I did one with credits etc. The bit at the end was a new year party a few years back...mad night :)

TBH it didn't even cost that

Remap was £400
Manifold was free with £70 for fitting (not what you know......;))
Filter was £150 iirc (nearly new)
Decat and Exhaust was £262 all in

I was pretty set on getting TB's but seeing that is an eye opener,do i really wanna spend 5k for the noise?? :S
 
yup, well impressed with Chris' Cup, it's a flier, deffo had the legs lower down as we did a 5th gear one and he pulled a few cars to a ton. Even though mine has more torque he had more grunt lower down, but I think a lot is to do with gearing, as the 3rd gear tests were 60mph, which put me off cam unfortunately... was actually tempted to reach for 2nd ;) lol

We'll have another doo this weekend if your on the meal Chris, should hopefully have the cutting out problem sorted, Northy's bet me a fiver it's lose connection, I'm going for some form of sensor that's not working and is really expensive, as I dont have cheap fix Clio problems! lol

Be nice to see Chris' Cup against a standard Cup, certainly until illegal speed it seemed like there was nothing between them. Guess Jesus didn't notice the extra bags of cement in the boot ;)

I just couldn't justify £5k for noise. Spend the money elsewhere on the car...stripping it,racing seats,wheel etc

Chris's car is quick! I'd driven it, Power delivery is very much in two stages. I'd rather the security of the cup anyday! Least that won't blow up in 5k miles! (Not to say the Tb'd one will) But i'd prefer the piece of mind to be honest.

Quick stuff tho boys, lots of private run down south! ;)
 
I read the comments first and was expecting it to be a close race. The TB'd car easily pulls on the cup when it gets in its stride, the shorter ratios help the cup initially.

I think the cup has around 195bhp so the 172 has 20bhp more looks about right to me.

I would be tempted to get the TB'd car remapped at Chipwizards and see what difference it made.
 
Jon, the only problem I had with it once of cutting out and not starting was the earth to the alternator had come loose. The nut holding it on seemed finger tight, span off and dropped off the car. Not sure if this will be the same for you though.

Haven't seen the video yet, will watch it now.

Nice sound! What gain did the Chipwizards re-map give you?

i've got ITG filter with std cold air feed and powerflow stainless cat back system, just wondering. Missus is treating me to a re-map for xmas, was going to get it done at RSTuning Leeds [pmurray]
