172 ECU

Humm im gettin an idea.

Im an electronic engineer, an if been reading bout car ECUs and emulator software. Does anyone know whatsort of chips is used in the ECU is it a Flash PIC or EPROM.

Basically will i be able to run a new flash PIC or Software emmulation (laptop power). I know you can do this on Mk4 Golfs but have a feeling someone has told me that 172 ECU is a big chunk of stuff that all gets replaced.

Someone on her does know as the specified the actual chip part number a few months ago. Maybe worth a search on all the ECU threads.

Yeah i cant find anything, I was really wondering if anyone knew if you could DIY a re-map?? I know its a dumb idea...... but i wouldnt mind a go
