172 engine swap/loom question

Car  2002 Clio Dynamic
Some people might remember that many moons ago i put my 1.4 dynamic in to have a 172 engine fitted!
This has been on going due to a few problems, namley the engine i was sold being out of a mrk1 172 and my clio being a mrk2 phs2 clio!
So i was told that fitting throttle bodies would get around the problem of the wiring and getting the engine running! Now that the job has passed to another garage i have been told that it prob wont work with the TBs and that i will need to fit the whole loom from a mrk1 172!

So!! does anybody know how big a job, pain in the arse it is and if it will actually work if i get it done???

To rectify this fault your going to need a MK2 172 engine wiring loom // a FBW throttle body with inlet manifold and a MK2 172 ecu ( with key kit ). The other option is fit a 1998 clio accelerator pedal and accelerator cable going to the MK1 172 throttle body.

if you go standalone ecu, it will work..

but as matt says you need the loom etc from a FBW car...

I have an Omex ecu that came with the Jenvey set up from Roamers clio, already got the acceletrator pedal and cable from a mrk1!

So all i need is the full loom from a mrk2 then? How much of a c**t is that to fit? i do have most of my interior out of the car jst now

if you have the omex loom and omex and tb's its no problem....

you can integrate the loom into what you have..

but you do need the pedal, matt I am sure has a load of them.

is the internal loom the mk2 one and the engine loom the mk1 one? if so where they connect under the scuttle pannel, the connector is different , if you go for a mk1 172 loom on the inside the connectors for the controls inside are different airbags etc and the mk1 172 has no UCH. Like matt says you need the MK2 172 internal loom and external loom to make a start then fit the cable acc pedal and intergrate the OMEX system into the engine loom ... sorry im not very good at explaining this stuff

I like this post, i wanna 172 ma clio.. would be the opposite tho cos mines is ph1.

I can do the mechanical swap but scared to start chopping the looms up.

Andy would you like your car looking like this?

The engine came with an UCH,The internal loom is the one which was in my dynamic i think and the loom part with the engine is from the mrk1 172!
The guy who is working on it now said something about wiring the omex up to the uch that is already in my clio but he is having to get diagrams from somewhere as Reno dont give them out as they are something to do with the imobiliser!

you dont need to do any of that, if you integrate the omex into the OE loom the omex runs the engine, the oe loom and oe ecu do the rest.

it seems to me like the simplest option..

as you wont be using the OE ECU to run the engine it can stay stock.. you basically remove the injectors etc etc from the OE ECU and run then into the Omex...

we do this with all our conversions with Omex.

I think when the time comes (when i have the correct stockpile of 172 bits) i need to book you a flight so you can come and wire her up! ;)

to get it running your key codes have to match the uch matt black can sort it out he did mine and mine had a full new mk2 loom put in aswell you only have to remove the wop part of the dash which is arond 8 screws and it pulls out, dont worry about all the nightmares it took me 3 garages to get mine on the road i set 800 aside incase of problems and that went in the first week dont take anything to reg vardies though they said they cud sort mine for 60 quid a week later it was 1200 or they wont do it sent my car 2 matty he got it running 2 weeks later gbox went - new gbox in another 600 and now i got a full ss exhaust and viper and it seems fine

I'll get Kev to check this post out to see if that helps him with what he feels the problem is! as basically its been made out to be all doom and gloom with this swap and it seems nobody can really be arsed with it since its a c**t of a job!

Not seen my clio since dec 05!!!!
