well my engine is dead, so i need to replace it
what i mean is for example is the 2.0 laguna the same engine as the 172? ie are there any other renault models than run the same engine

just get a second hand clio engine and replace. If you can find like for like you'll do even better. Loom is slightly different on 182's to 172's. ph1 172's run cable throttle body, but essentially everything is the same. you'd be looking at around £500 for a cup engine.
