172 exhaust fitting mismatch?

I have a pattern exhaust centre section on the car, and recently fitted a Renault backbox as the pattern part hung too low & bashed the subframe.

But - the two pipes are the same diameter, so we had to use a sleeve tube (about 8") over them both & a couple of clamps to hold it in place. Now these clamps knock on the subframe...

Does the standard Renault centre section sleeve inside the standard Renault backbox, or do they butt up together as well?

I'll fit a proper Renault one if they do, should help reduce knocking.

Ahh right, thought so as would be more normal.

You could weld the sleeve on one half and clamp it on the other depending on clearance but miles better just to just get the gen Renault centre section.
