a car is oinly worth whatr people will pay, and imports have less demand than uk spec cars. fact.

less demand, worth less. sorry

Sorry mate , but your talkin out of your ring piece . I sold mine for the same price as UK models on aurotrader . Plus mine had a better alarm than the ones Renault fit , as they only have a warranty of 18 months iirc. Mine had a lifetime warranty from Toad .

If the cars in good condition , full service history , then it should sell no problem for the same price as a so called UK spec model .The only thing he'll probably have to factor in is the lack of alarm .

Oh and SteveT . The guy at the dealeraships talkin b****cks as well . Mines an import with full 3 years Renault warranty and full 3 years AA assistance .

If the car was destined for Cyprus of Holland then they only had 1 years warranty .

Stick a toad or clifford alarm on it, buy some locking wheels nuts from halfords and bump the price UP!! If thats the only difference between import and non-import then thts what i would do!!

My old 51 plate was an import, no alarm, no etchings on windows, no locking wheel nuts, did not say it on the logbook, if its over 3 years old which it is theres no warranty , theres f-ck all in it second hand, if its a good un it will sell itself, i had a few jobsworths looking at mine slating it because its an import, tell them to f-ck off, my car went to a petrolhead who knew his oats, he knew it was an import but it was A1 condition he paid the asking price.

I think your getting confused on the import issue . Grey imports , like those from the far east , subaru's etc will come up as imports at the DVLA .

An import like you have won't cos it will have been registered as new in this country . I'm on my second import , both were brand new with delivery mileage and i was the registered first keeper .

Import are cars that could have been sent anywhere , but ended up in this country .If an imported car was intended to go to Cyprus or Holland then it only came with 1 years manufacturers warranty as well .

If you want to know where your car was imported from call Renault customer services on Tel . 08000 723 372 give em your VIN number .

As others have said . They came with no alarm , locking wheel nuts and window etching .

I sold my first import on autotrader for the same money as UK models were advertised for . Sell it for what the going rate is for your year , mileage etc .... if they don't want to pay what your asking tell them to take a walk .

I'm quite surpised you got insurance tbh , as most insurance companies want an alarm , usually a cat 1 , as well as the immobiliser .

Mine has locking nuts and alarm but it came with a dutch handbook so presumed it was an import. Didn't put me off buying though.

I've just had a quick look on the trader. You'll probably sell that just as easily on here for that price.

Thanks Len reassuring to hear. But Dick also right with people wil only pay what worth to them....i'm inclined to hold out for the right price....
I'll tell you what all, whenever i do get a sale agreed i'll update you all on final price / outcome.

Funny thing is, from previous threads i read that some exports desitined for hotter countries didn't have same level of sealant on the underbelly of the car. This would explain why we noticed damp coming into car (damp an understatement - carpet was wet through). Anyway at the time, over 5 years ago now, Renault couldn't fathom it out why the sealant hadn't been done but gladly repaired it for me and replaced all the carpets! Anyway thats som,e clsure for me on why taht happened!

Final sale price TBC !!!....watch this space.....

But didn't you say Renault told you your car was from Austria?

The climate in Austria is just as bad as ours when it comes to rainfall.

Well guess thats Renault for you....one story from one, another from another.....! Not been overly impressed with them generally, last time i got anywork done they dropped an aolloy scratching it badly...i only noticed later that day, went back the next and they admitted what they'd done...I just got them to swap it over with the spare which suprisingly was also an Alloy....i'd had enough by then with other problems with a boot catch and was just worn down by it all....

I'd hold out for the price you want. If you do fit an alarm just add a small amount back onto the asking price. If the cars mint and an import I'd buy it as would many others!

Hi - I sold this and forgot to update this site - £5150 in the end. I think this was a fair price on both sides, all things considered.
That was after about 3 weeks and 3 different interested parties viewing it (1 of which put off by import, another just total time waster)
Cheers All
