I have found more and more people are giving me saner quotes - just because I put 2 years driving experience.. but no NCD.

I can get a quote on a Williams now.. never could before - not even a 16v..

shop about, youll get that to a grand if u spend all day on the phone, its all about technique and not coming over a a nob.

i went for a 1.4 16v as i had been scared off with insurance for bigger ie £2300 for a 2.0 Fto.

i had been driving under my parents insurances on their cars for years so was shocked when my insurers Norwich Union gave me a 5 years ncd as i had been driving accident free with them with my parents cars.

turns out i could get insured for a cup for £625 full comp, legal exp.

It all depends on the area you live in. Im in norfolk 24yr old ,Full NCD, Full Comp. £600 with Direct line. Cars a MK1 172.

Try for an online quote first, saves ringing around.

Mate, thats way too much!!!............

Try Adrian Flux And Tesco,

give http://www.confused.comwww.confused.com a go aswell

Im 21 with No No-Claims. Mines £2300 full comp, and the Willys a group 17 motor while the 172 is 16, so youll be able to get a much cheaper quote than 4K

You just gotta shop around

Also I heard Renault Insurance are suppose to be pretty good, or is that just a load of poo?

adrian flux arent even worth phoning. They give cheap quotes but when you take a policy up it goes up!! and mates have had problems with claims with them.

i must me too old for them to worry, 31 £480 from direct line with 5yrs no claim for my new cup, 11 points though, very scary.

Well, tried around, got just over three grand!!

Most wouldnt even quote me!

never mind, just have to wait another few years!! ha ha,

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

NO WAY!

U havnt tried enough, Tesco will be under 1500 unless u live in the centre of Liverpool or summat. Tried Direct Line?

Get the 172!

  Tappd'd RS

thats a scandal for insurance - ive got a cup and Im only 22! Im only paying £1300 with 2 young drivers + dad - Ive only had my license 18 months!!!

Got a 5 yr NCB with Vauxhall tho - just so that they would keep my business - why not try them - you dont need a vaux. to use em.

Ill have a bit more of a look, I have a suspicion they dont like the area that i live. plus parking it on the street probably aint all that good either.

So, if the insurance fails, then im movin, i will have a 172.

what areas are cheap, prob cornwall where there are not so many people i spose.

Just had an idea, how about i rake the guts out of my engine till it breaks then transplant a 172 in there, customize it a bit more and then insure as a custom car!!! gotta be cheaper!! think im being stupid now!

whats the difference between a 172 and a cup, i just assumed they were the same thing.

Im 21, with 1 years NCB, insured with Renault Insurance.

I currently have a 1.2 16v, for which im paying £375 p/a

I got a quote from them for a 172, £1100

Not bad at all imo

EDIT: thats all fully comp btw

Avoid Adrian Flux like the plague - theyll give you a really cheap quote over the phone and then, miraculously, the excess on the form is double what you said.

Not good.

Cheap, but customer service sucks the fat one...
