172 Lowering - Warranty + Recomendations

Right, almost got my sister persuaded to lower her 172 but shes bleating that itll affect warranty so shes still a little unsure! Could someone tell me what affect fitting aftermarket springs would have on car warranty (if any)? Otherwise shes gonna leave it.....

Also id appeciate recommendations on lowering springs for a mk2 172 (drop, price, quality etc).....

Cheers! :D

Itll only affect the warranty if the springs directly cause any damage, mines been tons better since lowering.

I haven’t told the dealer ‘coz it’s none of their concern, but they’ve certainly seen it and the other bits I’ve done, I’ve had no problems from them because of these, but if you have to convince her then maybe its you that wants it lowering and not her, you gonna pay for it? ;)

Well, shes finding that its a bit "twitchy" at high speed and after being in my 16v she would like similar handling so i think she crumble soon enough and get it done! :) The only concern was that it might invalidate her warranty but if thats not going to happen then game on i think...

As for a drop, i take it about 35mm would be fine (^10mm said above doesnt sound worth doing) - itll be on std mk2 alloys so cant look weird??

If you are lowering for handling, fit the Eibachs. If its for looks, go for something lower. Bear in mind that your dealer is more likely to object to doing suspension-related warranty work if it looks really slammed though.

IMHO the Eibachs give the best handling improvement on the 172. The AVOs are too hard as several members have found....
