172 mk2 Nav Screens

Hey all,

Im in Melbourne, Australia and am the proud new owner of a Clio 172 mk2. Seemingly not content with this as a first car, Ive got a few ideas in my head as far as ICE.

I notice that over in Europe you guys get a factory Satnav option that replaces the usual info screen at the top of the dash with a screen.

By the same token, would it therefore be possible to replace the infoscreen with an LCD screen (from what Ive read, 5.8") and connect that up to a new head unit, such that you can still get the same radio/CD info as before? If so, would it be possible to wire the wheel control pod for volume etc. up to it, and about how much work are we talking?

For sat nav over here the top bit of the dash is different. To get this raised bit to get the sat nav screen in place you need a new top dash which is £400 or so from Renault.

Unfortunatly unless you can get hold of a crashed 172 with sat nav broken up for cheap forget it.

No it wasnt an option in Australia, in fact it isnt even one on the Megane RS!

As far as bits are concerned, what am I looking at - is it only the taller surround or does it then need a whole new top section??

jerms, whole new top dash section, PM mike172sport think he might be able to help you.

Its not an option over here any more, they say uptake was slow? it will have always been slow anyway imo!

not an option on the megane RS either.
