172 mk2 Stealth Exhaust

Just looking for people opinions on the above really. I've got the standard exhaust on my 172, but want subtle increase in noise from the exhaust. I was planning on getting a custom jobbie from blueflame, but I wasn't sure about cutting into the bumper (not a fan of exhausts sitting under the bumper, especially on smaller cars).
So I went on the K-tec and found this:

K-tec stealth is fairly well rated.

If your gonna go the custom route I'd recommend Pro-speed. I have one of their stealth cat backs on my car, spot on IMO. Pro-speed is in Cardiff though, not sure how close that is to Preston?

Yeah I've heard good stuff about pro-speed. Cardiff is probably about 150 miles from Preston ha ha. I will probably go with the stealth system. Just been reading a few good comments about them!! Pretty expensive, but it's got to be better than the 172 standard system! Does a sports-cat make a whole lot of difference?

I have a stealth from K-Tec and it seems fine upto now. Easy to fit, adjustable mountings on it. Noise rasps under acceleration not too intrusive.
I would imagine the sports cat will create improved gas flow as opposed to the standard cat fitted to the 172.

I've got a sports cat as well and it is more responsive.

Makes the car slightly boomy though at a certain rpm but fine when cruising at 70 on the Motorway.

I have sports cat from K-tec. Can't really say exactly how much difference it makes on its own - I had it fitted at the same time as a cat back system. The car is definately more responsive now. Sounds good too, once its hot it pops a bit like a full decat :evil: (obviously not as much though)

A word of warning though - the sports cat may well increase resonance from the exhaust as it is less restrictive, so if your concerned about it being too loud bear that in mind.

Yep.....definately increases volume but you'll soon get used to it

I have a K tec stealth and it is throatier than i thought it would be as they are made by Janspeed. i had one on my Mk 2 Astra 16v and sounded great but im now 34 and not sure if it is too throaty for me. I may consider selling it for £250 as it is only 2 weeks old!! and have invoice to prove.
