172 Rev Limiter

The rev limiter on my 172 cuts in at around 6700 rpm in first and second gear - Im sure it used to cut in later?

Does anyone know where the ECU gets the "Im in first or second" signal from? I figure there must be a switch or something on the gearbox...

Yeah sounds like it aint quite warmed up...even mine wont rev high when its still a little cold....

The engine is warm and the temp guage is in the middle.

Temp gauge is water temp, are you waiting 10-15 minutes of normal driving before you boot it?

Yep. Id been driving for around 30 mins last night when I tried. Ill try again later.

Its quite normal to have a lower rev limit in 1st, 2nd gears.

Personally Id leave it as is.

Anyone got an oil temp gauge fitted? Where would be easiest to fit the sensor?

About your rev limiter, its because its cold, I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. Engine just needs time to warm up properly, then the limiter gets raised automatically to 7.2k
