172 Track rod kit. What is it?

I have been told I need a track rod kit for both left and right side. My questions are:
-What do they look like?
-How much are they to buy?
-Are the "kits" I've been told I need the same as just a "Track rod end"?
-Is there any benefit to buy OE parts as opposed to patent?

you need

2 x track rods
2 x track rod ends
2 x ruber boots (unless your are ok?)

then wheel alignment

and a special tool to change them

Should I have these done before having coilovers and solid top mounts fitted as allignment will be needed then too?
