182,BANG! HIGH REVS

Ok ive just gone to start my 182, there was a loud metalic bang and it failed to start so i turned it over again and now its just constantly revving at 3000rpm what has just happened what could this be???

Sounds like "get me home" mode its in.

When my car was locked at 2000 revs, it was the coolant temp sensor that had failed - i never got a metallic bang though?

Get it to a dealer asap.

Get me home mode just stops revs going above 2/3k doesnt it? Itd be dangerous for it to just sit at 3k, heh.

there was only 1 initial pop/back now it just sits at 3k it does rev above this if i blip the throttle though

Dam 2 hour wait for the AA

P.s there are no warning lights on the dash either??

The STOP and SERV lights came on for me.

With regards to the revs, they just lock at 2000 rpm although you can rev it above that but it just dies to 2000 rpm again.

Ok the AA man has just been the problem was the air sensor fitted on the left hand side of the inlet manifold had come out so he just refitted it the bang was the air pressure gonna take it to renault and see what they say tomorrw
