There isn't a massive different across the RS range however if you take a 182 Cup, add some recaros, lower springs, sach dampers and steering revisions etc... you end up with a better car ofcourse ie. the Trophy.

Steering revisions? Not heard of any changes they did to the steering?
(Fan of the Trophy by the way)

apparently they did! but you will have to be a bloody good track driver to know the difference !

  106 GTi
Track is the width between the wheels, no sure how moving the wheels forward increase that ?

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
they do yeah, trophy turinis are a different offset to 172 cup turinis.

every little helps as they say.

  Saab 93 Aero Wagon
You also have to remember that the 172 Cup runs on 195/45/16's whereas the Trophy is on the 205/45/16's.....wider tyres.

  182 Cup
The track must be the same as the cup packed 182's then. Both the turini and the anthracite 182 wheels are et45. The wheel base on the Trophy may be slightly longer, which should increase stability in faster corners, but the difference has got to be minute. The front wheels on the Trophys definately sit in a different position to the other 182s though.

  05 IO 182 cup
182 cup far from pointless so shut the f**k up lol not arsed about recaros and a steering wheel with liquorice thumb grips, fair play the suspension setups on the trophy is what the trophy is all about, but if i wanted to i could easily get the cup suspension upgraded - pound for pound what else is out there that is the same fun as any of the CS 182s. stop bitching and go out for a drive.all this blah blah my cars 0.whatever seconds quicker than yours bores me - any 182 variant is an impressively quick little hot hatch - end of argument

  Trophy 007
agreed that the cup is pointless, didnt really excel in handling much more than FF182, but the Trophy is a different animal, stunningly good car to drive

  Mk4 .:R32
This thread will never die. Who cares anyway? Both the cars are good.

Lol i started this thread back in February. I didnt know I would be opening a can of worms, but I have learnt quite a bit about both variants that I didnt know before. :)

I had a 182 and loved it, thought is was mint in the corners, i test drove a Trophy and i couldnt believe the difference in the corners, its just kicks ass. Then i bought the Trophy.
I read somewhere that the Trophy turns a 45mph corner into a 60mph corner over the standard 182, which i would say is about correct.
Not sure about how it fairs up against a 182 cup as i havent drove one.
Anyway who is really that bothered? They are all mint cars in their own way, just depends on what you want from your RS.
I like going fast around corners, that why i bought the Trophy.

  Clio 182 Trophy
I would hardly call a 182 pointless! And more to the point unless your a track day specialist, the average driver that likes to throw there clio round bends would not benfit from the trophy set-up. I couldn't noticably tell the difference so went for a 182 FF with cup options. Is this also a pointless car?

Don't get me wrong, I think the Trophy is a fantastic car. It's just not for everyone.

The Trophy is the one of the best Clio RS on the tracks, if you watch the launch video of the Trophy you'll see that it is a second faster round the track than the Cup, hence the better suspension....
