182 Cup

GR7

  Shiny red R32

I have just read in the Auto Express that the 182 Cup is going on sale in November priced at £13,800 and fitted with ABS and air-con.

Go-faster stripes are a £295 option!

Crikey our SignMan would make some plastic stripes for £10

I totally agree with you Paddy im sure people on here have paid that price for there cupped up 182s anyway, with some form of dealer discount?!?

The 182 cup just seems pointless they could of at least stripped it out properly like the 172 cup or changed alloys!!!!!!!!!!! Cheap move by renault!!!!!!!!

cheers Rob!

normally no-one agrees with me! Hehe. But yep, dont see the point, I bet theyre relying on the colour shifting a fair few units too. Are they going to blag the public with the "Approved Upgrades" scam again?

The only different colour that is unavailable to regular 182 is the burnt orange or whatever its called.

Are they releasing it in racing blue aswell? Or what other colours?

Again whats the point...........

Dont forget its £800 cheape than stock 182s

ie £1200 cheaper than Cupped models.

Dont forget list price isnt the price you pay Id say youll get them close the £10k on import etc.

The difference is actually £1250 as the Cup bits are extra on the 182
But the price was not the reason I went for a 172 Cup over a Sport, wasnt for a lot of others either...

I bought a Cup for what it was, not how much it cost!

The 182 Cup is not different enough to the 182 Sport, youd be better off paying the extra and getting all the toys in this case.

I will be interested to see what the evo lot make of it.

It will be a great car as it is a 182 but swapping a 182 interior for a dynamique interior saves a scant 20kg is this really worth it?

Just been qouted £12250 in the orange with the stripes and 3 years interest free .

Reckon thats cheap as ill get a uk one for .

Del 1st of october

  Meg on pistonheads £6995

^^ cheap compared to other hot hatches, but all those gadgets gone?

11-11.5K would be my mark cos competes with ordinary warm hatches then!

done for cost saving, not weight - the dynamique interior looks OK, but is VERY cheap!

Before I get accused of sour grapes I fully accept that the 182 cup will be faster than the cup (sorry 172cup now!)

It just seems however that Renault are watering down the cup brand. The 172 cup was a more track focused version of the std 172 with a useful 89kg less weight and wider track/no abs for competition use etc

The 182 cup just seems to be a cheap 182 with same track etc but due to the loss of some of the more tasty options and by coincidence it has lost a whopping (pmsl) 20kg more by default really. Is this what the cup ethos is all about and can we really call a car with

air con

abs

esp

traction control

a cup?

Its not the price saving the Clios ends productions soon so they need to keep the sales going and cheaper versions are a good way of doing this.

I wouldnt be suprised to see another version a true ligherweight one without aircon, engine cover etc. Its will depend how sales do though.

Renault wont care realy about 172 Cup owners not liking it it keeps the production line going and its not likly to annoy you enough to either sell you car for another make or never convince you to go buy another Clio if its again sold as being the best hot hatch.

fully agree they saved money and then re weighed the car and thought ah I have amarketing scam up my sleeve!!

just found out that if i take the rear seats out of my 182 and run it on qaurter of a tank ill get the same sort of weight loss / performance gain

ill let you know what happens when ive tried it out .

think ill keep the 182 and forget about the cup

remember all new cars gotta have ABS so no point everyone going on about that.

still think youd have to be nuts to buy one, i mean, reno quoting £13,800 and the inside doesnt look remotely sporty?

why not charge £15k and do a really good job on it??
