182 Engine mounts

Lee

  BMW M2C
I've had the bottom o/s engine mount replaced this morning to stop the knocking when lifting at low speeds.

Previously it knocked a little, then the garage looked at it last week leaving the mount rattling away constantly.

Now it's been replaced it's fixed a few problems. Firstly the knocking has stopped, secondly the car no longer rocks back and forth while idleing in traffic and best of all when I change gear it's feeling more positive as the entire engine isn't moving around!!

The whole car feels more solid now.

When I had them done on the 182 it didn't make this much difference!

Either way, I'm happy. :D

Nice one Lee, glad its sorted. Is the mount they replace it with the same as they leave the factory with, or is it a modified part?

Fair enough! It just worries me that if the part used is the same, surely in time it will just do the same?

Is this the one under the car? Can;t remember what Andy GDI called it when he pointed it out to me, dog something?

dog bone mount..

think so.. but its on the nearside not the offside isnt it??

thought just the top mount was on the offside.

All standard Ali, whatever Renault fit.

The service guy said it was the o/s lower mount. I thought it was the top one to be honest. He probably read the job sheet wrong.

i had a knocking on the offside when i let off the throttle at like 5-30mph..

offside top mount replaced and it sorted it.

but now i got a knocking from the otherside when i set off slowly so think thats the dog bone mount thing.

I have had a new engine mount fitted but it still knocks. Going to get them to adjust it. There needs to be equal gaps each side of the rubber stoppers from what I remember being posted on here before.

You need to change them all at once or you will just find that the new one moves less and the older ones take the strain.
