182 engine noise . . Need help

J

The noise started the other day, its coming from the drivers side, its a bearing'y noise not a whine.

Did the screw driver trick the noise seams to be louder near the back cam pulley and near the alternator.

Aux belt hasn't been done yet.

Anyone??

I thought that, found out they did not do my aux at 36k its now 48k, so i guess it could be the aux tensioners

I'm thinking it could be water pump. Ill be taking it to Mendal motors in thornaby as they come highly recommended

Your on 48k? :S

Definitely suggests tensioners. When you say it isnt a whine its a bearing noise do you mean a drone?

Sort of!! its like a wheel bearing noise. thought it might be the dephaser pulley but its a constant noise that doesn't go when revs are increased.

Hopefully find out tomorrow

If the cambelt hasnt been done why would you not do it? Otherwise you'll have to do the aux again when you do the cambelt?

If i keep the car another year i will do both belts but i am considering getting rid! So not sure what to do??

You'll find it VERY hard to sell if they are not done.

Its almost a must when buying a clio for the belts to have been done, if not, the relevant amount will be deducted from the value of the vehicle

2005! Iwas thinking of trading it in for R26, the dealer wasn't bothered about the belts being done.

Just come back from Mendal Motors and they told me it is my water pump! So it booked in 2moro for a new pump, aux belt kit and cam belt all for £450, YES THATS RIGHT £450. :hail:

Well i got my car back today . . . Great you may say! Not at all!!!! Pulled up outside the house to the smell of burning rubber, had a look under the bonnet, found that my aux tensioner was rubbing on my aux belt and had worn a groove in it:(

Phoned the garage straight away they said they will pick the car up in the morning to see whats wrong! At first they wanted be to drive it down! . . Thats 15miles away:eek:

So i guess its a new belt and tensioner for me. Very p****d off at the moment, then again it could of been worse, it could have snapped and there goes my engine
