182 exaust rattle!

hi peeps, hope you can help, i bought a clio 182 last wednesday and all has been fine until today, the exhaust is rattling when you rev it or slow down, i took it to quick-fit as they were just down the road and he reckons something in the cat has broken and it has gone into the box behind the cat! he reckons it would be expensive to sort out, would my renault manufacturs warranty cover this? or is it something else?

oh and the car is on a 04 plate and had 38k on the clock!

if the car is still under the (3yrs 60,000 miles) warranty it should cover this , make sure that the service history is upto date or they may not do anything.

Had a similar issue with my 182 - was worst when accelerating and going round corners fast (shame on me!!)
Jacked the car up last weekend, and above the exhaust rear boxes at the rear of the car (underneath the car) there are some heat shields, looks like silver meshed thin metal. They're held on with 10mm bolts and washers, but the shield had rotted away and had come way from the washer. Rattles like a good 'un, sounds terrible, just like your exhaust was falling off! I managed to fix it by taking off the bolts, putting a larger washer on, and refitting. On mine, 2 of the fixings had come away like this. It's a quick and easy fix if you're having the same problem. Hope it is!
