182 exhaust manifold on 172?

Just wondering if a 182 manifold will fit a 172, I'm considering buying one as someone has suggested that this is the only difference between the 182 and the 172 in terms of power. Is this correct? (I realise the back boxes are different also) Cheers, billybob

It will fit onto a MK2 172 yes, and indeed it will give you 8-10bhp with a less restrictive exhaust system/decat. It's not a DIY job though and getting the manifold bolts undone can be a complete pain in the arse.
