182 ff cup to a 182 trophy

  Titanium 182
Is it really worth?

How many 182 owners have upgraded to the trophy.

After 2 182s I still have a mega soft spot for a trophy but unsure if its going to be worth it or should I go the whole way and just get a 225 cup.

Thoughts and comments welcome

Only way to decide mate is drive one. If your tight for cash and ou don't reguarly really give your car a good throwing about then probably not. On the other hand if you can and have always had a soft spot why not! They certainly do feel special :)

Or, wait for a set of the dampers to appear on ebay. You do get the odd set appear time to time?

Some one on here has a BG with a Trophy set up!

As Eddy says, drive one, only way you'll appreciate the difference and go from there.

Can't really comment from a 182 to a Trophy but the handling is worlds apart from my Cup when it was on it's standard set up.

I asked this a couple of month ago. It concluded that it wasn't really worth it. (unless obviously you bought it 1st time round)

We have both. FF Cup is a smoother ride, but the Trophy handles sooo well.

Tough choice but I'd have the Trophy for the handling and Recaros;)

I couldn't justify the change when having a 172 so understand your dilema. The difference between the 172 and 182 is night and day - unsure on the 182 to Trophy debate though. However, if I was in your position I think I'd get a different car. After several RS's maybe it's time for a change unless you're really comitted to wanting one.

Not worth it leeroy. Similar corner speeds just trophy feels more composed. Drove them and always said the adjustability of the cups makes them more fun if ya don't mind that kind of thing. Get a 172cup and you would enjoy that more. Remember your passenger ride in mine all those years ago.

Yes Kev I remember lol, never again.

Good job it had grab handles

I have always wanted a trophy, it seems really special to me.

Its defo on the cars, i have the money so might as well get one of the best drivers cars made, it has to many plus's over the 225

As good as people say the trophy is a well looked after 205gti feels more special. There just abit old now. If ya want 1 the do it but I think you'll be selling it in a few months.

Remote res dampers, that's it.

Buy yourself some decent coilovers and have it setup properly, job done. :D

The problem with the RB is I cantr lower it, I live in the middle of a warn zone and I want to put the car in the drive, a lowered rb wont go it.

However a trophy will, it has the seats, wheels and colour I want.

Much easier to run then a 225, less hassle then a 225 and I think this is something i would enjoy

Ummm, fit coilovers but dont dump it on its ass? Instant win.

Its a complete fallacy that slamming a car on the deck makes it handle better anyway lol ...

Indeed, id run it 20mm lower than stock and enjoy the awesomeness.

Get a whiteline ARB for the back too.

Exactly what I did. However, even the kw v2's aren't as good as the Trophy setup when it comes to dealing with shitty uk b roads. But on smoother roads/ track the coilovers are the better setup.

I agree with Brown Bear with what he has said in a earlier trophy thread.

I want a fast "B" road driver and you cant get better then a trophy for that

I aint a track queen, which the 182 with decent coilovers can seem to do alittle better then the T.

I have want the best clio money can buy(well what I can afford) and its the trophy

Its the type of car I hardly have to do anything about and if gives me that awesome feeling of knowing I have a better car :}

Get a Trophy, no messing about with coilovers. Nice colour, seats. Hold their value better

If it's just a fast 'b' road car your after stick with what you have.

Whats the point in selling that, to buy a trophy that in the grand scheme of things isn't that much better.

It's only 2 front dampers after all, and as said in a previous post, you can buy them on ebay as and when they come up.

You want the best car money (you) can buy???? It's really not that different dude.

IMO of course.

Hmmm I think the trophy comes as a package, seats, colour (I love), wheels, suspension. It's not just an upgrade of a 182 imo and if money was no object I would say go for it.

Is the trophy 2/3k more special than a 182 standard or with coillies only a test drive would tell you that.

I'd do some new seats and a well set up suspension in your RB.

More of cleaning wore then a track wore if am honest.

But wouldnt mind the occasion track day at croft.

Half want a T and half want a Meg 225 f1

Before you go either way, do a track day. You may get bitten by the bug, and that could influence your decision. Nothing worse than deciding you want something a bit more adjustable having just changed cars.

Love how all the trophy owners tell me to get one :}
not a trophy owner but.. definitely DO IT!
there are few cars which are that good in stock condition, it's quite nice to know you'll probably never have to upgrade it that much..
red, speedline, sachs, recaro's, and probably already a classic hot hatch
too bad there are only 50 trophy's that I could buy and they're all in switzerland
