182 insurance quote the same as a 1.5dci Megane!!???

Not sure how this works really....group 5 or 6 compared to 17!? I don't live in a great area so for me and Nic with protected bonus it is coming out at mid 700's for either. Just wondering if anyone works in insurance can explain how this can be. The 182 is a 54reg and the meggy is a 56reg

I got all excited at a cheap quote the other month, then realised it thought the car was a group 6 citroen

Odd, cost of replacement parts far higher? Number of claims made on that car higher? Doesn't really add up either way. You done much ringing round Chris or just spoken to your current insurer?

The 182 reg is right...its the fact that the megane is too high and thats reg is correct as well.

My current company (Adrian Flux) quoted £700+ which we laughed at but it seems to be similar where ever we go.....such a huge gap in groups make a joke of the whole system imo

For me, a 6 year old 182 insurance was exactly the same as a 13 year old ford escort. It doesn't make sense.

No the car in my avatar is my Cup. We currently have a BG 182 and are paying approx £700+ with protected bonus. Same address same details for a 56 reg megane dynamique 1.5dci comes out at pretty much the same dispite the gap in groups

Cheers guys...I can only guess that our next quote on the 182 would have been substantially higher this year soprobably just as well we are getting the megane!

mine went up massive this year, from £390 on the cup FC to a renewal of £800, feck that!

I went with Nowell Richards in the end and got it for £550 full comp, be worth checking them we have the same BB postcode
